Lost
Continuing my Tin Man binge... I present this. No idea what inspired it, I just kinda started typing. Characters not mine.
Lost. That's what he was. The unfamiliar hallways and corridors seemed to be not only leading him in circles, but apparently also taking him farther away from where ever it was he was trying to go. The blanket that was wrapped tightly around him seemed to indicate that he had at one point been sleeping, though he couldn't begin to fathom why he would be sleeping in such a magnificent place. The dignified looking sleep-pants he wore backed up that idea, though the shirtlessness was a bit surprising given how chilly it was. He bit his lip in thought, eyes scanning his surroundings for anything familiar.
A silvery suit of armor lit by the snowy moonlight night caught his eye and he could have sworn that the thing was looking straight at him. "Help, someone!" He pleaded, taking a step backward, toward the nearest wall.
The wall he ultimately hit, though, turned out to be a door, which flung open about a second later. Arms wrapped around him in time to keep him from falling and he found himself hauled into the room.
"Glitch… it's so early." The sleep laced, soothing, and familiar voice reached his ears and he recalled why he had been out there to begin with.
"Cain!" He exclaimed, flinging himself back into the man's embrace. "Oh, Cain! It was terrible! I had a nightmare!" He clung desperately to his protector.
The ex-Tin Man did not seem surprised by this outburst. Instead, he pulled his friend over to the bed and got them both settled beneath the blankets. "What was it about?" He questioned, as he pressed a warm hand against the other's bare chest.
"I… I don't remember." Glitch stated, a frown crossing his features. "Hmm…"
He felt Cain smile against the back of his neck. "Shh… it's okay, it's over now." He shifted impossibly closer. "Try and get some sleep, okay?"
They lay together in the silence for a while, both close to sleep again.
"Cain!" The other shouted, sitting up straight, his eyes wide open and frantically seeking out his lover. A wave of relief washed over him when he spotted the Tin Man glaring up at him. He flopped back down, arms curling around Cain. "Oh! I thought… I was lost. And I couldn't find you…"
"Is that what your nightmare was about?"
"Yes!" Glitch nodded, eyes cast downward. "Promise you'll never let me get lost?"
Cain pulled the blankets tighter around them. "I promise." He pressed a soft kiss to the other's lips. "I promise."
