Alex Russo had had to much fun over summer to go back to school. But yet her schedule came and Justin was off to college. The day he left Alex was planning a party with only her and Harper, but it became a more emotional event then Alex had planned. But now it was her first day. "Great, another year of everything but good grades" she thought. As she walked in the building she noticed that Art was not one of her classes this year. That was the only class Alex bothered to try in. Alex went straight into Mr. Larrytates office. Alex wanted to puke when she saw all the cowboy decoration's in the office. "Ms. Russo what are you doing her? Or did one of the teachers see you and demand you had a detention already?" He asked. " No Mr. Larrytate, I was looking on my schedule and art isn't one of my classes. I signed up for it you cant just take that away from me. That's the only class that I even think of showing up in, so much as get a good grade." Alex couldn't stand the thought of going through school without the help of art. "Well Ms. Russo, Mr. Larrytate said, I was going to put you in art, but your mom called and said that due to your Latino heritage she wanted you to take more Spanish instead of art. She feels that you focus too much on art and not enough on you heritage, so she took art out and put Spanish in." Alex felt like screaming, but instead she went home. She skipped the first day of school all because she didn't have art.

The next morning Teresa came in Alex's room. "Alex its time to go to school" she said. "I'm not going if I cant have art mother" she said in a cold tone. She glared at her mother and wanted to scream at her but she remained calm. " Alex the only reason that I didn't let you have art was because I wanted you to love and enjoy you Latino heritage. Its fun to know about your family's history." Teresa said. "Please just give it a chance for me." she got up and left the room shaking her head.

At school Alex went to the girls bathroom and pulled out her wand. She had finally figured out a spell that would change her schedule from Spanish to art. "Art is my soul, life and passion but Spanish is not the correct fashion." she spoke. She then pulled out her schedule. Where Spanish was art was in its place. "Magic is so user friendly!" she said.

Alex went through the day with art and Spanish free. She was about to head home when max stopped her in the hall. "Hey Alex, the Spanish teacher, Mrs. Gomez, wanted me to ask you why you weren't on the attendance list." "Well, Alex said, I didn't want Spanish full year and mom wouldn't let me take it half year so I used a spell to switch it to art full year." Max looked at her in disbelieve. "Mrs. Gomez is really nice. She even gives us candy if we get a question right!" Alex began to feel a little jealous. " Ill see you at home max." She walked out with a plan forming in her mind.

At home her mother was watching pro wrestling. " Mom, can I please have art to. I mean that's the one thing I actually like about school. Ill still take Spanish I just don't want it full year and without art." Teresa turned around with a bit of annoyance in her eyes. " Well your Spanish teacher called and said that you had disappeared off her list. You used magic to get out of Spanish and into art didn't you Alex!" "Well a little." Alex said. " Alex, listen, it was wrong of me to think that I could take art away from you. But that is no reason to go and use magic!" Alex thought she heard her mom speaking in Spanish under her breath. " Well Alex, I will let you take art half year with Spanish. But you are grounded for the next 3 weeks with no magic what's so ever." Alright." Alex said with a bit of struggle.

The next day everything was normal. She had art and Spanish. It turned out that max was right, Mrs. Gomez was really nice. And with that she moved on with her days.

Until she found the secret about Mrs. Gomez.
