Just A Dream: Carrie Underwood
She had spent her whole life planning for this moment, the day when she would get married. Every little detail, from the dress she would wear down to the songs that would play, had been chosen when she was just a kid. Because Kitty was the type of girl that planned everything out in advance, she was the type of girl that always had the details planned out.
Kitty had turned 18 two weeks ago and now, dressed in her mothers wedding gown and with a pair of Storm's blue high-heels, she was heading towards the churhc that she had planned to be married at. Her parents had gotten married at the same church, and her grandparents, and she only felt it was right to have it happen here.
The box of letters that he had sent her sat in the seat next to her. A large shoe-box, because at the time it was the only thing she could find, that meant more to her right now than her apartment. Their apartment.
The church was beautiful, and as she walked inside she pulled the veil over her head, there was no reason for everyone to see her crying. But she couldn't help it. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, the day where all of her dreams came true, not the day that she bawled in front of everyone that she knew.
Everyone was there. The Brotherhood, the X-Men, the New Mutants, her parents. Everyone. And they all stood up the moment that she stepped inside. Music started playing somewhere in the background, that was not the song that she wanted to play today.
It was a mutant preacher, not the one that she had wanted there, but she didn't say anything. There was too much mutants-human hate right now for her to have the preacher that wed her parents. He said something, something that Kitty didn't actually hear, and everyone bowed their heads for a few moments.
Storm stood up and led everyone in Amazing Grace, the saddest song that Kitty had ever heard, and the line of mutants beside her let off a blast of their powers. Fire, lights, mini-bombs, ice, they all met by the cieling behind her and Kitty felt her heart break just a little bit more.
She couldn't see anything anymore. Everything got fuzzy and her legs fell out from under her. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. Lance wasn't supposed to leave her, they were supposed to be together forever, supposed to live 'happily ever after'. But they wouldn't be and everyone but her had already accepted that fact.
She shook her head, the tears staining her white gown and ruining the make-up that she had spent hours carefully applying, and tried to tell her self that it wasn't true. It was just a dream. Lance wasn't dead and when she woke up they would get married, just like they had planned. It was just a dream.
"Just a dream."
