He shouted, screamed for her until his face was red, his veins in his neck strained, until his shouts hurt his head he screamed her name.

No reply.

He sacked cities, destroyed temples, and set everything ablaze.

No reply.

He struck pillars until his fist bled and bones could be seen. His ears dripped blood.

No reply.

The elusive beauty whose name he knew, whose smile he craved, whose body he yearned for; was she only in his mind? Had his sanity finally left him? He rasped her name having no voice left.

No reply.

He groaned and slid down where he had leaned back allowing his knees to break the short fall. The red he saw dulled to blurred watery vision feeling it falling in tiny trickles down his warmed cheeks. It was agony knowing he would only ever be able to fight her.

...Reply?

Her hand reached out and gently brushed his tears away; she lightly smiled and helped him stand up.

She vanished.

He felt strong but small arms wrap around him and a cheek rest against his back.

She vanished again.

His legs were stiff, he was unable to fall back on his knees.

Was she real or was he mad?

Sand from some unknown battle, another he didn't care for, created a cloud in front of him and she walked out towards him, her spear on her back and shield lowered. He hesitantly reached a hand to brush her cheek smiling when she leaned heavily into his caress. She smiled. He brushed a stray lock away from her face to see her silver eyes.

She was real.
