Kyou Kara Maou Wolfram/Yuuri PG Written for the tempsmort challenge "Hearing/Sounds".

Wolfram doesn't have the best of tempers. He's not very generous at all either, nor is he friendly, or discreet, or even remotely--overallpleasant to be around if you don't know him well enough to ignore his rude remarks. Above all, though, he detests to wait. Wolfram doesn't have a patient bone in his body. Not a patient drop of blood in his veins.
That's why Yuuri's absence drives him crazy.
It's not even--completely at least--personal. It's that Yuuri have responsibilities as a king. Yuuri has hundreds of loyal servants, why does he still insist on neglecting them by suddenly leaving all the time? Without telling anyone beforehand, even. Just disappearing. Wolfram has never met anyone as annoying. To think Yuuri is the one Wolfram has been told since he was little that he would follow, help and protect even while endangering his own life.
Such a wimp.
Well. Perhaps. It might be a little personal as well. Wolfram is Yuuri's fiancé and they rarely meet. When they do they are always around people. Never alone enough to talk, if Yuuri would ever want to. Never enough to do anything more than talk, either, perhaps even more annoying.
Honestly. It's not that Wolfram wants him here, either. He just wants him to be...less absent.
Anissina's invention is ticking randomly from its hanging place on the wall beside the large map. A time-measurer, she had called it proudly and managed to rope Gwendal into hanging it in the lounge. Wolfram somehow doubts the invention works very well but having it there at least keeps Anissina from destroying the castle in attempts to force the thing upon them all. And for some reason, Greta finds it strangely interesting. She can watch it tick and tock haphazardly for hours, sometimes with several minutes breaks, sometimes so fast Wolfram feels his own heart stress to keep up.
The sound is very much annoying. Would it be just a little louder, Wolfram would be rolling on the floor and tearing his hair out.
Yuuri is in that other world and here is Wolfram, stuck in a room with annoying sounds and a boring book to read.
Just as the time measurer is starting up on another one of its frenetic tick-tock attacks, Conrad opens the door, saving Wolfram from putting a not-so-very graceful fist through the glass-shield protecting the gadget (probably ending up with a cut and bloodied fist in the progress). Somehow, it doesn't even manage to make Wolfram feel better. It would have been nice to hit something, even, didn't matter if he got slightly hurt or not. There's no way pain can feel as frustrating as what he is going through right now.
He's not even sure what exactly he is going through. He doesn't think enough to stop and wonder. To him, it's just the stupid sound that is driving him up the walls, and the fact Yuuri not being there to take care of his duties.
Wolfram is on his way to snap something when Conrad speaks up.
"Ulrike announced that his majesty will return shortly," he says calmly. It's obvious that he is pleased with the news, visible in the way Conrad's eyes are holding more warmth than usual, his smile fonder. Not a great change to his usual expression, but someone who knows him well enough will notice. It makes Wolfram sour to realize; he certainly doesn't want to know a half-human very well.
"Took him long enough," Wolfram replies curtly and slams the book in his lap closed, standing up.
And still. He is annoyed with the fact he has to turn away; unless he wants Conrad to see his features soften. Wolfram tries not to, but he can't help but feel better at the thought of Yuuri coming back, that wimpy cheater.
