The REAL reason Goku left with Ubuu

A short Dragon Ball fanfic, set sometime after the defeat of Buu and before the final Tenkaichi Budoukai. Dragon Ball was created by Akira Toriyama and Bird Studio.

"Good morning Goku!" Chichi said brightly.

"Morning!" Goku replied, sitting down at the table in the kitchen of his modest mountain home. "What's for breakfast?" he asked eagerly.

Goku wolfed the food down hungrily as Chichi brought out plate after plate. Suddenly an inhuman screech tore through the house, causing it to shake to its very foundations. Goku paused mid-bite, and his eyes widened as the high-pitched noise grew even louder. Dropping the plate, he put his hands over his ears, trying ineffectively to block the horrendous sound.

"My ears!" he cried, rising to his feet. "Is this a new enemy?" he asked, nearly powering up to Super Saiyajin right there in the kitchen.

"Goku!" Chichi yelled, standing with her hands on her hips. "Don't you DARE start fighting in my house," she threatened. Another, even higher pitched whine echoed through the house, nearly bringing Goku to his knees. Chichi sighed, mumbled something about over-sensitive hearing, and walked through the house to her youngest son's bedroom. She knocked and opened the door.

"Goten, could you stop for a few minutes? I need to talk to your father and I can hardly hear myself think," Chichi said.

"Sure mom," Goten replied. She smiled at her youngest son and closed the door. Returning to the kitchen she found Goku curled up in a fetal position on the floor. Unceremoniously, she kicked him.

"It's not THAT bad," Chichi said as Goku looked up at her.

"What was it?" he asked weakly.

"Don't you ever listen to a thing I say to you?" Chichi asked tiredly. "I know I told you just last night. Goten and some of his friends at school have decided to start a band. He was so excited, and he seemed really serious about it, so I said it was alright. But he needs to practice."

"Practice?" Goku asked blankly.

"Yes, practice. Just like you have to train in order to fight, Goten needs to practice if he's going to learn to play the guitar. He wants to be a musician." Chichi stepped over her husband and started putting dirty plates in the sink.

"That was music?" Goku asked, sitting up. "And he's going to practice like that every day?"

"Of course," Chichi answered without looking back.

Goku sat and thought for a minute. Then he stood up and started to walk out the door.

"Where are you going now?" Chichi asked, turning around and wiping her hands on her apron.

"To spar with Vegeta. With a little luck, maybe I can get him to send me back to heaven. At least it was quiet there," Goku replied. As Goten's guitar began to squeal again, Goku quickly ran outside and flew off.

Watching him disappear into the distance, Chichi briefly wondered whether or not Goku had been joking.
