Prologue
She sat in the backseat of the limousine, her arms crossed loosely over her chest as she stared out the heavily tinted windows. Her stomach churned with nerves, her heart beating wildly. Why she had picked tonight of all nights to do this, she didn't know. What she did know, however, was that she couldn't keep up this charade anymore.
It had started ten years ago. She was young, fresh from university. After begging and pleading with her father, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, she finally got what she wanted: to have a storyline in the World Wrestling Federation. Abducted by Undertaker. A romance with Test. And what led into the McMahon-Helmsley era.
Her throat constricted at the thought. Because she had been young and naïve, she had thought that it was love. For her part, she knew it was. She had fallen hard and fast. And she had sworn that he loved her too. But now, she knew better.
If he loved her, he wouldn't have let her take all the heat for the Chyna incident. He wouldn't have asked her for all the title reigns and shots. He would respect her. And although she had turned a blind eye to it, she knew that he chased anything in a skirt.
She knew now that for him, it wasn't love. It was power. It was getting to the top by fucking the boss's daughter.
There was a soft rap on her window, causing her to jump as the door was opened. "We're here, Mrs Levesque."
"Please. Ms McMahon will do." She corrected, forcing a smile on her face.
He just nodded, opening the door wider. Reaching beside her, she picked up her bag and slid out of the limo as gracefully as ever. Pulling herself to her full height, she straightened out her suit. With her head held high, she strode into the arena, her resolve unwavering.
Her forced smile slipped into a more natural one as employees gave her recognition, either with a smile and a nod, or with a murmured greeting.
It felt good to be the Billion Dollar Princess.
