I'd like to put a spin on your conventional nightmare-having hurt/comfort kink, if I may.
Phoenix and Miles are in a relationship and have been sleeping together for some time now. One night, Miles screams in his sleep, waking Phoenix, and Phoenix immediately wakes him up for fear that he's having a nightmare.
After being bitched at, Phoenix wonders what Miles thought was so epic and exciting about dreaming he was the Steel Samurai, about to best the Evil Magistrate once and for all.
When he suddenly woke up, he didn't immediately recognize due to what reasons it had been. It was still in the middle of the night, he could tell, but he felt somewhat too alerted to just go back to sleep.
That was when the man lying next to him screamed again, and he finally knew what had waked him before.
"Hey, Edgeworth…" It had happened so many times before. In most cases his boyfriend had been dreaming of that incident from years ago, or was hunted by other nightmares. And all he could do all the time was to wake him and comfort him until he had settled down. "Edgeworth…" He laid a hand on his shoulder and gently tried to wake him up.
When Edgeworth opened his eyes, he looked surprised, startled. As always.
Phoenix smiled at him. "It's alright…"
That was when suddenly a frown slipped on the other man's face. "No, it is not."
"Yes, it is… it was just a dream, so –"
"Oh Wright, just shut up!" He rolled over to the other side, so as not to face him anymore.
Phoenix blinked in surprise.
"But… I… you had a nightmare again, so I –"
"I did not have a nightmare."
"But… you screamed, so I thought…"
"I told you to shut up, didn't I?" He sounded really frustrated now, and Phoenix felt a bit guilty, although still not knowing why.
"You… didn't have a nightmare?"
"In fact, it really was a rather… nice dream."
"Oh…"
Silence.
"…Tell me about it?"
"No."
"But –"
"You woke me!"
"I didn't know! As I told you, I thought you had one of those bad dreams about… that again, so I wanted to help you…"
Edgeworth sighed.
"Fine then."
"So will you tell me?"
"No."
There was the rustling of bed sheets, and the next instant Phoenix was all cuddled up against Edgeworth's back.
"…Please?"
He sighed again.
"Well, I…" It was kind of embarrassing. But he could trust Wright, couldn't he? "I was… the Steel Samurai."
The laughter that immediately rose from behind him told him he couldn't.
"And that was so great you had to frown at me for waking you?"
"Damn, Wright! It wasn't just that I was him, I was… finally… beating that Evil Magistrate bastard, it was that super showdown I've been waiting for since… ever, and I was so close to save Neo Olde Tokyo for once and for all, and then… then…"
"Yeah?" He had a hard time to talk properly, not bursting into laughter any moment again.
"Then… you woke me!" Which he didn't succeed in after Edgeworth's final words.
But after all, he felt a little bit guilty.
"Sorry… Maybe, if you sleep right now, you will dream the ending of it?"
"Such things don't work, Wright…"
"You could try… And I promise not to wake you again… if you don't scream again."
"…Can't promise that…"
"Well, again, try it?"
"…Might as well do so…" He closed his eyes once again and tried his best.
