Author's Note: Star Wars reminds me a lot of the King Arthur stories, so I decided to write something like that. Enjoy, and please r/r.
I wanted this to be a lot longer, but my sister encouraged me to post it like this. I hope you like it.
Camelot's End
Amidala tiptoed through the big, empty hall of the temple. It was late; darkness enveloped the world in its cold grasp. No one else was awake, which, of course, was her plan. Only the faint swish of her dress and the light tapping of her footsteps broke midnight's silence as she made her way down the hall.
He was waiting for her, sitting up in bed when she soundlessly entered his room and shut the door behind them. His serious face was drawn with concern, as it had been for months. How Anakin hadn't noticed in all of that time, she didn't know. But Anakin remained blissfully unaware of their affair.
"We shouldn't," he whispered hoarsely.
"I know." She sat down on the side of his bed and kissed him tenderly.
"We can't." This time his words were more urgent.
She looked at him. "I love you," she said.
"I-I love you too, but..."
"But what?" She gently pushed him back onto the bed. He sighed but did not resist as she moved her body over his. Instead his hands locked across her back, pulling her even closer to him. Their breaths came in panting gasps as they succombed to their passion.
Afterward, they lay side by side on his narrow bed.
"We can't go on like this," he said.
"I know."
"I want to be with you every second of every day. I can't keep waiting for Anakin to go off someplace for us to be together."
"You know I want to be with you too, but what can we do? He's my husband. And he needs me. You know that. He needs us. He's so confused...so conflicted...I don't know what he would do without us."
"I know, but I can't stop myself from loving you." His deep blue-green eyes gazed into her brown ones.
She smiled sadly. "I love you too."
They kissed once more. She moved away. "I have to go," she said.
"I love you."
"I know."
They kissed again before she left the room as soundlessly as she had come, leaving Obi-Wan Kenobi, decorated and revered Jedi Knight, Anakin's teacher and best friend, and Amidala's secret lover, alone once more.
