"Trick or Treat!" Two blond six year old girls said, bounding up to the door in their costumes. One was a Princess, and the other was a Pirate. Their parents stood near the gate to the house, smiling.
"Look at our girls," the mom said.
"I know. They're so grown up, Bailey," the dad said, staring intently at his wife.
"Oh, Cody," Bailey said, doing her famous laugh.
Cody smiled as the two came down from the house.
"Look how much candy we got, Daddy!" the Pirate said, smiling.
"Oh, Zoey, that's great!" he said, taking her hand in his.
"Mommy," the Princess said, "That lady was so nice. She gave me five pieces of candy!"
"Did you thank her, Katie?" Bailey asked, smiling at her little girl.
"Yes, Mommy," Katie said, smiling as Bailey took her hand and they walked down the street, to the next house, which was their own.
The twins let go of their parents hands, bounding up to the doorstep.
Bailey and Cody walked behind them, smiling.
The two entered the house to find Zoey and Katie sitting on the barstools at the Kitchen Island, sorting through their candy. The two each had a pile and kept pouring out bags they had collected.
"I think we might have gone a little overboard," Bailey said, watching the two swap candy.
"Yeah… maybe that last neighborhood was a bit overboard," Cody agreed, "But at least they had fun." He smiled, tugging on his Halloween costume.
"Cody… do you remember Martensgrav?" Bailey asked, staring at his costume. They were both wearing Swedish costumes.
"Ha-ha. Let's not go there, honey."
"What? It's only a month away until when we visited there… It's been fifteen years since then."
Cody smiled. "Has it only been 15 years? Time flies so fast when you're in love with the perfect woman."
"Says the perfect man…" she giggled, as Cody wrapped his arms around her and kissed her.
"I'm so glad you decided to leave Kettlecorn, Bailey… If you hadn't, I would never met my soulmate."
Bailey blushed, "Even though it's been 16 years since our first date, I never regretted saying yes. Even after we broke up, I always still wanted to get back together with you. I'm so glad you came back for me."
"I'm glad I did too," Cody said, as they went back into their kitchen and spent the rest of the night giggling with their daughters.
Author's Note:
I was going to submit this to someone's Cailey collection for Holidays, but I forgot to finish it and send it in. I think this is an appropriate place to leave a one-shot, and although I may update it later to add a bit more, it's still fairly long.
Also, I have some awesome news! Debby Ryan followed me on twitter. This may not seem like much, but it is amazing to me. 3
