Good Intentions

Ghost ReaperandWinter Cherries

Prologue

They always said the road to hell was paved with good intentions. He didn't think it would take so few.

The world was on fire. Buildings burning and on the verge of collapse, bodies lining the streets and the screams of the damned ringing through the thick, ash clouded air.

Yuto gasped for breath, dodging flames and duel monsters brought to life. The attack had come from nowhere, everything was calm and then it had started raining fire. The cries had reached his group before the monsters did, the murderers. He'd lost his grip on Ruri's hand as she disappeared in the trampling crowd of victims and Shun was nowhere in sight after pushing the two away from a fall chunk of debris and everything was just going to hell.

In the present he spat blood and skidded to a stop between a soldier and a helpless mother shielding her children, activating his duel disk with a violet flash.

Without words Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon materialized with a slap of the card and the soldiers hounds whimpered in fear, baring their mechanical teeth and snarling. The beasts took a defensive step back, as if to turn and run but it was too late, Yuto had already ordered his attack and obliterated the monsters, the sharp, jutting silver fangs skewering the man before disappearing back into the virtriverse.

"Are you okay?"

The mother let out a borderline hysterical laugh/sob, clutching her children close to her chest. It was a sad sight but he hadn't long to ponder on it, racing off to in search of his friends and family, praying, hoping that someone had survived.

Updates will probably be very infrequent. The first official chapter is in the works.
