Today was like any other day of my life. The sun shining down on my shoulders as a walked to the park. I had my favorite book with me. "To Kill a Mockingbird". I guess I could say I was a big reader. I wasn't really much into the whole sports and partying like other 17 year olds these days. I mean fun to me is being outside on a nice day and reading a book. It might not sound as much fun but that's who I am. I'm Ellie. Ellie Simmers.
As I got closer to the park I tried to hide my face from the jocks outside with their petty girlfriends. "Dang it" I whispered quietly. My pace quickened as I got closer to them. "Please don't notice me, Please don't notice me" I kept repeating through my head, and of course it happened. I was stopped by a muscular boy about my age, shirt off, shaggy hair, and sweating like there's no tomorrow. "Excuse me" I politley stated trying to go around him. "Hold up there sweetheart" he said mockingly. I rolled my eyes and pushed passed him while the other girls laughed the whispered amongst one another. "This is my chance" I tried to run my fastest toward the field about 50 feet away. Then I was caught in the grip of the boy. His firm fist was clenched at the back of my shirt lifing me about a foot off the ground. "What do you want!?" I pleaded. He smirked, his sweaty face inches away from mine. "What's the hurry?" "Nothing I just want to read my book so if you please excuse me I would like my feet to be touching the ground." I was on my last nerve. I couldn't handle him anymore! I did what my brain told my to do and so I kicked him. He quickly let go as I ran toward the field. In the distance all I could here was the constant cursing toward me.
As I sat quietly down the field I was panting hard. I've never done something like that before. I started crying. Tears were rolling down my face. I clenched my book. For some reason that kick reminded me of my mom. She passed away when I was 7. I didn't want to believe it but she died from brutal abuse from my dad. I have been afraid of him ever since I saw him hit her with the wooden baseball bat. I've just never gotten over that and the feeling of my mom being gone. As I dried up my tears I heard a sudden sound in the field of tall grass. I turned my head to the right and then the left. I saw nothing. But just then a boys head popped out of no where. He was gorgeous! His blond hair perfectly at the front with green peircing eyes with the perfect smile that could make anybodys day. He walked over to the with his hand out. " Hey there! I'm Niall." He had an accent. It was perfect! Just kind of weird hearing that kind of accent in California. "I'm Elle" I smiled and shook his outstretched hand. "So whatcha doing in this field?" He laughed. Oh my freakin mighty lord! His laugh was just.. Woah! I couldn't believe he was talking to me! "Well I was just reading my book here." He smiled. "Well lets do something more fun!" He held his out his hand once more to help me up from the damp earth. "So what do you have in mind?" I gushed. He quickly smiled with his perfect teeth. " You'll see darlin. You'll see."
