Here is the story of Ariane, who was crucial to the plot in Invictus. Gah,I hate it. But I felt like posting itso it'll clear up a few things in my story.
Disclaimer: I own Ariane, who I am proud of. Like Chrysanthene. Heh. And I don't own Artemis, unfortunately.
Artemis watched the girl in amusement. There she was, laughing with her friends. And then, suddenly, she was losing her head, yelling at them in anger. It was very amusing for a boy like him.
The girl stomped over to the nearest park bench. It just happened to be the bench he and Butler were sitting on. She avoided his gaze, glaring at a nearby tree. He stared at her for a few minutes. Then she whipped around.
"What's your problem?"
"What is yours?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I need anger management lessons," she said simply. Then she left.
The next day she came back. Once again he stared at her.
"What's your problem?"
"What is yours?"
"You know very well what it is. I need anger management lessons," she said simply.
"Who are you?"
"Ariane Lane." Then she left.
Again he saw her at the park.
"What's your problem? You keep staring at me! And just don't say 'what is yours' again, it's a bit old now."
"I find it a rather fitting comeback. I have no problem. I know yours, though. You-"
"Need anger management lessons," she sighed.
"And I know who you are. You are Ariane Lane."
"Who are you, then?"
"Artemis Fowl."
Then she left.
Artemis waited at the park again, expecting Ariane. He wasn't disappointed.
"What is your problem? Stop staring at me! It's getting unnerving!"
"You need anger management lessons," he said simply. "I can help you."
"Yeah, you can help me, and I'm not Ariane Lane."
"Yes, you are not Ariane Lane, and I am not Artemis Fowl."
"What makes you think you can help me anyway?" she left the conversation hanging, and went off to join her friends.
"Aargh! What is wrong with you?"
"You need to learn patience, and I can help you with that."
"Yeah, right."
"Actually, I can."
"What makes you think you can help me?"
"By simply being me."
She glared at him, and left.
"Stop staring!"
"I told you, I can help you with your problem."
"I doubt it. Why does being you help?"
"Because I am Artemis Fowl."
She scowled. "And what makes him so special?"
"Because he realizes that he cannot control his emotions, so he lets them go free. But he does not let them show on his face."
She smiled, and left.
The two teenagers were having a conversation. It was Ariane's suggestion to summarize what they had said to each other in the past five days.
"What's your problem?"
"What is yours?"
"I need anger management lessons."
"Who are you?"
"Ariane Lane. Who are you?"
"Artemis Fowl. I can help you."
"Yeah right."
"Actually, I can."
"Why?"
"Because I am Artemis Fowl."
"I know what makes him so special. It's because he realizes that he can't control his emotions, so he lets them go free." She stood up, and kissed him lightly on the cheek. A friendly kiss, of course. It had only been a few days, after all.
"But he does not let them show on his face," he whispered, trying to stop the pink tinge that was appearing on his cheeks.
Gah... Lucky Ariane... Got to kiss him on the cheek. Friendly, but a kiss anyway. I'm jealous.
