So I felt that there weren't that many Peggy Carter and Jack Thompson fanfics out there, so decided to write a brief one shot about what might have happened when they first met. I know that there are still a lot of people that don't really like Thompson that much, but I just love the way his character development is going, plus I do think him and Peggy share a great chemistry. Not romantic perhaps yet, but lots of room for potential. I think anyway. I hope you like!

"You gotta be kiddin' me Sir!? Why the hell is headquarters sending a woman our way? We got more than enough good agents here and plenty of good men lined up for the job." I exclaimed. I mean seriously, what were they thinking? The last thing we needed was some woman getting herself killed on our watch, and we'd be the assholes who failed to protect her.

'Listen Thompson this isn't my decision." Dooley barked. "I'm not happy either, but she was a loyal agent during the war and they're trying to keep her busy. You know, make her feel like she is doing something useful while she grieves."

"Grieves?"

"Apparently she served with the 107th. She's Captain Rogers's girl."

That shut me up for a moment. I'd be a fool to not be impressed by her background. The 107th was one of the best tactical teams the army had during the war. Hell, they knew parts of Europe better even than the locals, not to mention that it was once lead by Captain America himself. That being said, being the Captains girl was by no means enough to overlook the fact that she was still just a woman, and being a SSR agent was very much a man's job.

"We're just going to have to follow orders for now Thompson. Soon enough she'll realise that this isn't the job for her, and we hopefully won't have her for long. Besides, it'll be great to get the filing sorted. You fellas sure you know your ABCs?"

I chuckled at that. Dooley always had a plan. "Well it's always good to have an extra pair of hands for that kind of work."

Dooley smirked and patted me on the shoulder. "You see, it won't be so bad." Glancing to the right of me I saw his eyebrows rise suddenly. Turning to see what had got his attention so suddenly, I found my eyebrows doing the same thing. Walking through the office, with a pace and attitude of sheer determination and confidence was possibly the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. It took all my self-control not to let my jaw open wide as she approached us.

"Chief Dooley." She stated, sticking her hand out to shake his hand. "I'm Agent Carter, ready for duty Sir." Her English accent was a surprise, but it just seemed to add to the sense of confidence she radiated.

I was trying hard not to stare, and shoved my hands in my pockets suddenly extremely self-conscious.

"Good to meet you Agent Carter and glad to have you on board the team. This here is Jack Thompson, one of my best agents. You need any help, he's your guy."

Glancing my way, she smiled briefly giving a curt nod. "Thank you, though I must remind you that I have served in the SSR for more than five years and know fully well how to do my job. I do look forward to meeting everyone though."

Talk about straight to the point! Her dismissal for any help irritated me more than it should and I couldn't help my comeback that blurted out. "Nice to meet you too Carter, but I'm no baby-sitter." I started my way out of Dooley's office, but couldn't resist turning for one more comment. "The boys and I have been working hard on this new case. Would you be a doll and get the coffee?" Her face tightened and I could see the anger build up behind her eyes. Unfortunately I discovered it made her even more beautiful than before. I quickly turned and walked as fast as I could to the conference room, and for a brief moment her gentle perfume stayed with me.
