This feels… right, me and Ryan kissing… I feel safe with him, I trust him… I know he'll never hurt me. Ryan and I fall onto my bed, continuing to kiss as Ryan holds me close to him…
"Ali, you home?" We hear Miguel say as he walks in and stop kissing… this is turning out like that day 2 ½ years earlier when I came home from school and caught Miguel and Roni kissing in his room.
"Hide!" I whisper to Ryan, who hides under my bed as I reapply my lip gloss and close the little tube, setting it down and walk out of my room, me and Miguel hugging each other.
"Hey, I didn't think you'd be home yet." I say. Miguel is in the middle of his second year at Dade University, studying to be a criminal attorney.
But right now, if he catches Ryan in my room, I'm screwed!
"Couldn't wait to see my little sister. Mom and Dad said they'll be back as soon as possible." Miguel says as we let go. Damn, if they find out that Ryan and I were alone here, I really will be in trouble. "Ali, you okay?" He asks.
"Yeah… it's just been a long day." I say. Last summer break before senior year… being back at school after what happened still feels weird sometimes but thankfully, Britt, Jake and Alicia aren't there anymore. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't forgive Alicia and get our childhood friendship back.
Some wounds don't heal completely.
"Some days just drag on. Well, I'm gonna go check on Roni. Take it easy, kiddo." Miguel says before we hug again and he leaves.
I sneak back into my room and close the door, Ryan climbing out from under my bed and standing up.
"That was close. For a second, I thought he was gonna come back here and find me." Ryan says before we kiss again.
He's right, we've gotta be a lot more careful.
I don't want anyone knowing about me and Ryan… not yet, at least.
