Willow stepped out of the shower for the third time that night. By then, Buffy and Dawn had finally gone to bed, and when she checked on them they looked pretty sound asleep.
She needed the falling water less with each round as her sobbing had slowly dissipated. Her tears were gone for the moment, replaced, now, by a slightly rising anger. Tara was always holding herself back. All that power and she barely ever used it. It was… well… it was selfish! She would go on and on about using magic for good. Well, what did she think Willow was doing? What "good" did it do to know all this stuff and just keep it to yourself?
Willow tossed the extra pillows from the bed and slumped down into the blankets. Amy the rat squeaked in her cage and Willow watched her, thinking. Amy had practiced and had always tried new things. She had never held back. Heck, that last spell was incredible! So incredible that Willow hadn't been able to figure out how to undo it yet.
"How could Tara think I'm not trying to help people?" Willow asked the rat. "If I don't test this stuff, how am I going to get you back to normal?" She wrinkled her lips and more squeaks came from the cage. See? Even Amy agrees!
Willow flicked her fingers towards the bedside lamp, and the room went dark.
Yeah, a break was what they needed. Tara would see she was right after a while of wasting time doing everything the hard way. Who did that ever help?
