A Secret Kept From the Flock
"Max?" I heard Fang's voice call my name. I whipped around the best I could. Even that was getting harder with my stomach being so swollen.
"Hello Fang," I called back to him. He started jogging over to where I was sitting. That's all I'd been doing lately. Sitting around on a chair or the couch. But with all the extra weight I had I didn't mind just sitting around for once.
Fang was at my side in an instant. He was just as dark and mysterious as ever, but his eyes shone with a light I'd never seen. He must have been really happy about something. And my heart pretty much skipped a beat.
"Max." Angel's soft voice broke into my thoughts. She was staring up at me and Fang. I took a deep breath. No one knew of my secret, not even Fang. I'd told no one. But I knew Angel would figure it out soon if I didn't shut my mind off. That's the curse of having a mind reader in the flock.
"What is it sweetie?" I asked her, ruffling her hair. Her eyes sparkled with a dash of mischief, and at that point I needed to shut my brain off. I forced myself to think about the most boring thing I could think of. What did pop into my mind was string, lots of it. Angel then appeared to be flustered.
"Just you wait Max," she said before skipping off. Fang gave me a curious look and I only shrugged.
"She's just flustered because she can't read my mind," I explained. Fang chuckled a little. Then I patted my stomach without thinking about it. Fang yet again gave my a funny look before walking away.
I sighed. Things were getting way to complicated. And how was I going to explain things to Fang and the gang. Explain that…I'm pregnant and expecting Fang's kid.
