Hillwood was a quaint little town. It was more of a miniature city in the middle of nowhere frozen in time. There were no super markets. There was a bakery, a butchery, an ice cream shop, a park, and…not much else. Sure, there were good schools and a dock for boats that didn't go farther than a mile from shore.
Hillwood was bliss for some, hell for others, but no matter what, one thing was true for all of Hillwood's citizens; they could never leave.
It didn't matter how much they wanted to leave, they always just ended up right back where they started, their attempts at escape forgotten. No one believed, or even imagined, what was true of this place.
True, it was an odd town, but that wasn't even the half of it.
Still, of all of the eccentric people in Hillwood, there was one who was different. She didn't even know she was different, nor did she know why. Her name was Helga Geraldine Pataki, and she was the one who would save this town.
If only she weren't cursed.
Cursed with a broken home.
Cursed to be seen as the villain she wasn't.
Cursed to a lifetime of unrequited love.
Cursed to forget.
True, everyone had forgotten, but none as much as she.
That wasn't' what made her different though. What made her special, really. See, unlike everyone else in Hillwood, she could leave.
The one who cast the curse never would have imagined that one day she would leave the boy who had her heart. Still, she did. True, her heart would always be his, but there came a day when she saw that he could never feel the same. After that, at the ripe age of sixteen, she became the first person to leave Hiilwood. She drove her dad's old, blue car across the town line and forgot about the place entirely. She became a runaway. An orphan. A thief.
But as fate would have it, she was the greatest hero that their world had ever known.
