Helpless

Why must humans be so heartless to those who cannot defend themselves? Why must they always beat up those who are weak, those who are slow, those who are unable to move at all?

As a kakuna, I have had to face many trainers. They always come through here. They always seem to think that a kakuna is a lifeless thing, that we can't feel anything. Oh, it can handle it, they think. It knows Harden, after all. Pokemon are there to be battled. And a kakuna, it's good battle experience, and it's easy for the trainer's pokemon. I get this everyday, it seems.

Here comes another trainer. This one has two pokeballs clipped to his belt. I know what is about to happen. It is unescapable for one who can barely move.

"Oh, a kakuna! Go pidgey!" the trainer calls out. "Use tackle!"

The pidgey attacks, but I use harden, managing to withstand the damage. This happens again and again. I use harden, and it gets more and more difficult for the pidgey to damage me.

The trainer looks frustrated. "Pidgey, use sand-attack!"

Before I can react, the pidgey has blinded me with sand. I can't see anything. The pidgey will be able to attack me now.

"Pidgey, keep using tackle!"

The pidgey hits me repeatedly. The damage builds up, and I know I'm about to faint. Finally, I am able to see again, but I know it's too late. One more hit, and I'm gone.

"Pidgey, use quick attack!"

The pidgey darts at me, hitting me hard. The blackness, so familiar, starts to envelope me. Someday, I'll be a beedrill. Then I can fight back. This is my last thought as I finally lose consciousness.

Gee, wasn't that just great? Am I the only one who feels sorry for the kakuna and metapod in the games? Anyway, please read and review or flame.
