Tru looked up at Jack annoyed, "Jack you know I could have you arrested for stalking."
Jack's lips curled and said, "And miss out on our stimulating conversations? You'd never."
"You never know." True said slightly mischievous a side he brought out of her weather she liked it or not. Then she asked more seriously, "What do you want? Jack?'
"What? Can't a friend just drop by to say hi?"
"I'll let you know when I see one."
Jack put his heart over his hand and said, "That hurt Tru, truly."
"Jack it's not a rewind day. So why are you here?"
"I need your help."
Tru raised an eye brow; her head tilted in suspicion and asked, "Why in the world would I help you?"
"I don't know I helped you."
"So that's why you did it? So I would owe you one?"
"I did it to help out a friend. There was no one who died that day whose fate you were messing with."
"Well what ever you think I owe you, you can forget it."
Jack sighed and Tru saw a hint of sadness and vulnerability in his eyes.
Then he said, "Look Tru I was hoping to ease my way into this but I guess there's no good way to do it. So here it is. I'm quiting Tru."
"What? Really? You're quiting just like that?"
"What's the matter? Are you going to miss me?" Jack asked smiling devilishly.
"I just don't get it…after all of this time and after everything your just…oh it's a trick your just telling me you quit to lower my guard down."
"No, Tru if anything your guard should be up even more then ever."
"What's going on Jack?"
"Look. I need to disappear for a while. I need you to listen to me carefully. The next time you rewind be careful. You know if I were you I wouldn't do it at all."
"Oh so that's your game. You try to get me to quit claiming it's part of my safety. So what that's your tactic now you're trying to scare me out of submission. It did not work last time and it won't work this time."
"You're in danger Tru."
"With you around I'm in danger everyday."
"I won't kill you Tru. It's not my way. It's not my choice who lives and dies. I don't condone it at all."
"OK. So how am I in danger?"
"I can't tell you."
"Why not?"
"Because it will put you in more danger and it will break your heart."
"Wow I didn't know you cared." Tru said trying to make that sound as sarcastic as possible.
"Yeah, well I'm a surprising guy. Good bye Tru."
Then he went her and grabbed her and kissed her.
Tru couldn't believe it. He caught her completely off guard. She was so surprised that he pressed his lips against hers she responded in kind. She felt the bolt of electricity flow through her. She felt the intensity like a waterfall. She felt the rush and the adrenaline flow through her finger tips. Then she remembered who she was and who he was. He was the enemy. He was her opposite. She went back in time to save people from dying who weren't ready to die and he went back in time to make sure they died. So breathing hard and in a flushed face she pushed him off of her.
This was probably part of his sick elaborate trick. There was no way he would ever give up that easily. And there was absolutely no way he would give it up for her.
Jack just tilted his head with a crooked knowing smile fully entertained. It was like what she did amused him, which made her even angrier. He had some nerve.
"What the heck Jack?"
His smile became fuller and suspicious and said, "Tru, I was just trying to say goodbye. I figured that was the best way to go about it."
Tru stifled a sarcastic laugh and said, "What gave you a deranged idea like that?"
He laughed and said, "You can deny it all you want Tru but there's something between us. I figured if I was going to quit and I say good bye I might as well put that out there. Well, see you Tru. Have a nice life and be careful."
As Jack left Tru just stood there her mouth dropped open dumbfounded.
"What just happened?"
