Your touch is sweet
It brings me to my knees
Your laugh is real
It consumes all I feel
He flashed back to a simpler time, when he was still at Hogwarts. They were not as deep into war. He saw her every day at school, heard her laugh with her friends during class. They had met secretly a few times, developing an interesting and complicated relationship.
Ever since that fateful night on the roof of Hogwarts, though, he had been with the Death Eaters, leaving very few times to bring reports to the Order. He was permitted to leave only when Voldemort directed him to do so, to "spy on the enemy." It was a bitter irony.
He wasn't unappreciative, though. Because of these commands, he'd been able to see her. Just once, and only briefly, but it was sufficient. They said nothing to each other, but the way she touched his arm said multitudes.
I would die for you
March the earth 'til I fell through
Yeah I would die for you
Pass this life onto a new
I would die for you
But I hope it ain't soon
Since that time, he fought mercilessly in the war, just for her. To see her again. To feel that same touch again.
She knew he would die for her, but neither wanted to leave the earth.
Love breathes through
God's hand graced you
A dream so sweet
One second with you
Makes my whole world complete
On a weary day, he thought of her, picturing her face. No one really recognised it, but she was absolutely stunning, bushy hair and all. The few times he slept, he dreamed he was with her.
The dream had come true that day. They crossed paths in battle, and though he couldn't acknowledge her openly, their eyes caught. It was only for a second, but it had been more than enough to get him through the rest of the day.
I would die for you
March the earth 'til I fell through
Yeah I would die for you
Pass this life onto a new
I would die for you
But I hope it ain't soon
There had been a gathering of Death Eaters, so Voldemort could judge his followers. As usual, the traitor to the Dark Lord became nervous, but not enough to impede his skill at Occlumency.
"Ssseveruss," the evil creature hissed. "What newss do you bring to me?"
The man looked Voldemort in the eye, blocking his thoughts expertly as he lied about the whereabouts of Order members and their status.
When the group was dismissed, the man sighed in relief. He hadn't died that night. It had become increasingly normal to expect death every time the group was rallied.
And its always enough
Your love cuffs all I know
And it's better on top
This love never stops
It's all I know
Several months later, he had made it through numerous gatherings with little harm to his physical self, though he was scarred emotionally. As always, his thoughts of her helped him make it through the day. They were bound together by an unspoken, yet always present love.
But that day was different. It almost felt hopeful.
Soon he learned why. A few Death Eaters had escaped the scene and informed him the Dark Lord had fallen. For good. He feigned shock and distress until they left, at which point he hurried to find the Order members. To find her.
I would die for you
March the earth 'til I fell through
Yeah I would die for you
Pass this life onto a new I would die for you
But I hope it ain't soon
Their reunion had been a blessed one, both rejoicing at the seemingly unattainable victory. They spent a lifetime wrapped in each others arms, tears of joy and mourning and hope spilling down their war-stained cheeks.
When at last they broke apart, the man looked down at the girl and said, "I would have died for you. But I'm so glad I didn't."
Her smile was all he needed.
