Mmm... Minor spoilers for the first 1/4th of the game...? And incredible cheesiness so watch out
Inspired by this lovely art that I can't quite link here... But thanks for linking it to me, Eirin~
The world was warm all around him. His mind still clouded by the sweet remains of a dream he could no longer recall, Richard kept his eyes closed and enjoyed the peace. Everything was quiet, save for the quiet sound of air passing through his lungs, and the soft breathing coming from beside him.
Slowly, the king turned to his side and carefully began opening his eyes, expecting to be blinded by the sun's first rays. Instead, the room was still dark; he had woken up much earlier than expected, differing from his usual habits. Richard sighed and wiped his eye.
Despite the early hour, his bedroom was not pitch black, and the young monarch could see the sleeping features of his lover quite clearly.
Even awake, Asbel looked so innocent it always made Richard smile... but asleep, the nobleman was a true angel.
Richard looked at the burgundy hair, all messed up from its usual style, strands making their way in every direction, some locks dangling above a fair cheek. He watched the gently shut eyes, listened to the peaceful rhytm of Asbel's breathing, followed the bare chest revealed by a fluffy blanket softly heave up and down.
He lazily smiled; the man was so beautiful, so vulnerable, lying there beside him...
Richard let his eyelids meet, everything was perfect, if only for a little moment. He felt a hand on his cheek, eyes darted open to see Asbel's vaguely peaking at him between heavy sleep-heavy eyelids, the hand made its way along a royal neck to the shoulder, clumsily signaling a want to draw him closer.
Richard got up relying on his arm, dragged his upper body and hips closer to the warmth of the person he most trusted. He felt the half-awake Asbel clumsily snug against him, soft bed-head hair stroking his cheek and neck.
A warm flow of air met Richard's collarbones as his love sighed, content, and drifted back off to sleep. The king stroked his fingers through locks of short hair, buried his face in them.
Gently wrapping his arms around the man beside him, the man very swiftly noticed himself falling back asleep; as he returned to a land of dreams, Richard held tightly onto his lover, as if to allow them to share not only their waking moments but their dreams too.
Even as the morning began to dawn on the two, their shared embrace granted them both a most rewarding rest.
