Sesshomaru stepped outside of Kaede's hut and smiled. It's sunset. Her favorite time of the day. I wonder what she'd say if she were here, Sesshomaru thought. Mikayla. Where are you now? His mind wandered back to those days as he walked up the hill where they had once watched the sunset together. A grave rested at the top of the hill. A wreath of flowers hung around the grave marker. He knelt at the grave. He brushed away dirt that obscured the writing on the marker:
Mikayla Taisho
Beloved Mate,
Beloved Wife,
Beloved Mother.
The world has so much to show us and yet the loving touch of woman can show even more.
"Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin had come up behind him. She put her hand on his shoulder. Rin had known the woman who lay buried at their feet for a long time. Sesshomaru looked to the sky and closed his eyes.
