Look at these wounds, we say. Look at these wounds, and tell us we're wrong.
You won't. You won't even give us that, we who sacrifice everything for you. We spend our lives striving for your freedom, and you don't let yourselves think. You don't even let yourselves think.

It's safer this way, you say. You say it's safer if you refuse to acknowlege your problems, and you're right. If you ever do acknowledge them, you'll be forced to act, and that action will take your life, your family's life, your planet's life. You can't know what will happen, so you stay. You rationalize. You close your eyes and hold your ears and say nothing's going to happen, as long as you stay where you are.

We know how wrong you are.

We've seen it, time and again. Ignorance won't protect you, ignorance is no shelter. All it guarantees is surprise at the end, when you're caught in crossfire, when you're more inconvenient alive, when you're nothing more than a statistic. We've seen everything you can go through, and we know how wrong you are.

Sometimes we hear whispers. Lies that fail to keep you safe. We hear you say that the tyrany is our fault, that we're jumping at shadows, that this isn't that bad. We laugh when we hear these whispers, and there's no humor in our laughter. It's easier than hurting for you, easier than weeping at your ignorance. We can do so little to drive back the darkness that surounds you all, and we feel it most keenly when we hear those whispers.

Occasionally, we wonder if the whispers are true. All the worst atrocities are directed at us, aren't they? If it weren't for us, would life be that terrible?

It doesn't matter anymore. The tyrants might not have been tyrants if we hadn't given them that name, but now they are. They've lived up to their cruel name again and again, proved us right more times than we can count. Tyrants, we said, and tyrants they are. It doesn't matter which came first, not after Alderaan and Camaas and a thousand others. Now no one can honestly claim we are wrong.

Honestly, we all wish we could live your lives. We all wish we could close our eyes and step back into the humdrum routine. None of us blame you for staying blind, none of us want to disturb you. We do it only because we must. We do it because without you, we cannot win this war. We do it because we are losing. We do it because it is necesary. We must not lose this war.

We must not let you stay blind. You must see your wounds
