Pretty Words
His face will one day lose its colour,
The pearls in his mouth will become ash,
The sapphires in his eyes will become as black as onyx and as cold as stone,
Just as his heart has.
All he will see will be an endless night,
All he will hear will be deafening silence.
And all he will love will be nothing more than shadows,
Persecuting him as he delves into darkness.
His smile will lose its brilliance,
His scarlet lips will lose their splendour,
Just as his words will soon
Begin to fail.
After all,
Pretty words whispered through prison bars
Will soon lose their charm.
