Okay, so I was reading CircleSky's narrative poem The Ballad of Jess and Rory (it's purely amazing - check it out if you haven't already!) and I got inspired to do some rhiming myself.

This poem originates from a song by the Swedish singer-songwriter Melissa Horn. I've changed the lyrics to fit into the Jess/Rory/Logan drama that was going on when Jess visited in season 6 and also the original song is in Swedish so I did some translating. The song is called "Lät du henne komma närmre", which word-by-word translated would be: "Did you let her get closer".

I thought this theme would fit Logan's thoughts after meeting Jess in season 6. There's not much resemblence to the actual song after my changes, but the theme is the same, and along with the Ballad mentioned above it was my inspiration, so I wanted to mention it.

I'm not that used to writing poems, but I thought it would be fun to give it a try!

If you want to hear the original song you can easily find it on youtube, it's a great song - and the lyrics are amazing!

Being someone's boyfriend was a first.
Now I can admit that I was scared
but I love you and have never been so sure
I want to let you in, I am prepared.

I saw the looks you gave to him that night
and at first I thought it was a quirk,
then I realized, to you that look meant love
and I know that I acted like a jerk.
I was afraid your heart had changed its mind
but now I know it never really did.
Your heart, well it's been his all this time,
never realized I was the second bid.

Was he closer to your heart,
did you let him deep within?
In my mind his lingering,
though I never let him in.

Trying to keep up, but I'm staggering behind
Why is this happening to me?
I know you're longing for him,
you really think that I can't see?

You're everything I wanted,
but it's not me that you adore.
How do you give your love
to someone who's loved before?

Yes, every now and then I feel alone
when I know that he is on your mind.
So I grasp your body closer as I hold on.
Hoping that he might be left behind
We rarely ever talk about our future,
we never speak of what we got
Your dreams are fading for my eyes
and mine will start to rot.

Was he closer to your heart,
did you let him deep within?
In my mind his lingering,
though I never let him in.
