1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.

2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.

3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!

4. Do ten of these, then post them.

1. "It Was Mine" -AFI

Brittany kneeled in the dark ground. She wouldn't have cared either way, but her clothes were black so it wouldn't show. She read the engravings in the cold stone one more time.

"So young," the woman behind her whispered.

She pressed her lips to it and refused to stand.

2. "I Miss You" -Blink 182

Whenever they crossed in the hallway, Santana bowed her head and pretended not to notice. They hadn't spoken since the last time Brittany had attempted to persuade her to come out.

What was Santana supposed to think when she saw the person she loved pushing a wheelchair that belonged to someone else to class?

She was hand-in-hand with David Karofsky, but she had never been more alone.

3. "Ur A Wmn Now" -Otep

The first place she could think of to run to was that familiar house in Lima Heights Adjacent.

Santana looked hurt.

"He tied me down," Brittany whispered.

They collapsed together.

4. "Santa Fe" –'Rent' cast

Santana looked down as the blonde, head resting on her chest, awoke.

She would have been smiling, but they were hidden far enough from anyone they knew. She would have thought it was exciting, but this was Brittany. Really.

"You know we're going to get out of here sometime, right?"

5. "Andy, You're a Star" -The Killers

Puck held his phone in his hands and searched through year-old texts, finally deleting the earliest ones from Santana.

She was different now, in a way that wasn't hard to define.

He chuckled at the memories. He was different too.

When did they become who they are now?

6. "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" -The Offspring

This was probably the first time she had been genuinely pissed at Santana.

She had sunk to a new low when she turned her anger to Artie. She was weaker than ever, and more than before, she put on her strong mask and pretended that being a bitch made her cool—or something Britt didn't really understand. And she wasn't going to defend her anymore.

7. "Singing in my Sleep" -Semisonic

Santana lay awake listening to her outdated CD player.

The disc in now was one she had heard almost nonstop for the past days, since Brittany gave it to her. She was talking to her through it, and she wouldn't give that voice for anything.

She remembered that day spent in the hospital.

She clicked the "Stop" button. She wanted to forget.

8. "Beat It"- Michael Jackson

Something was funny, Santana figured when she heard the hockey players' annoying laughter around the corner.

"Hahaha… Fucking stupid. You can't do anything, can you? Your dyke's not here to take it for you."

A scream.

Wait. No, it wasn't funny.

She ran. "What the hell are you doing?"

9. "I'll Be Back" -The Beatles

Brittany blinked and clenched her fists.

"I can't," read the glowing screen of her cell phone.

She could take anger or sadness, or she could move on. Whatever it was, she was going to take it quietly. And come back as loudly as she could.

10. "But It's Better if You Do" -Panic! at the Disco

Santana was really only here to try to "straighten herself out." She didn't enjoy it.

She used to enjoy it. But those days were over, weren't they?

She knew Brittany was happy without her. So it didn't matter, she kept telling herself as she emptied her wallet and cringed every time a guy got near her.

It didn't matter. So why did she have to blink so goddamn hard to get things back into focus?
