Author: JMaria
Rating: Pg-13
Disclaimers: Not mine. Joss' and JK are the real geniuses.
Spoilers: s7 b5, to be safe
Summary: It's more than just dying.
A/N: 20 minutes with Cassie Newton. This is actually my third fic featuring Cassie, but not too many people use her. So this is a five character cross. Feedback much appreciated.
So Glad To Be
Cassie Newton was dead. She'd had a heart attack and keeled over, while the woman who'd fought so hard to save her cried over her body. She smiled down at the body. She'd done what she was supposed to do. Maybe she could go onto heaven now.
She thought maybe she'd float on up, get some wings. You know, the typical jazz. But no. She was summoned. Three cloaked figures sat before her.
"Cassandra. . ." One boomed.
"That's me." She said smiling. "Is this heaven, because it's not what I thought it would be like." She tilted her head to the right and frowned. "You guys angels?"
"We are the Powers."
"The powers? The powers that what?"
"That Be."
"Huh?"
"We watch certain champions. You knew the slayer and the key. They are two of our warriors."
"Slayer? Ms. Summers?" She had killed that demon, so Cassie guessed that fit.
"Both Ms. Summers'."
"Dawn's the key, right?"
"Yes. We are requesting your services, Ms. Newton."
"My services? Didn't I already perform my services? I told the peroxide guy -"
"We need you elsewhere."
"Elsewhere?"

Harry barely noticed her. That was until he slammed into her on accident. She'd been standing in front of Flourish & Blots, giggling at the moving cover. Her blond hair caught the sunlight as she quickly bent to pick up his fallen book.
"I'm sorry." He muttered. He'd finally managed to slip away from Tonks and Bill, who were arguing over something or other. He was dying to get to the Leaky Cauldron. She smiled at him.
"It's ok."
"Well, ok." He turned to walk away, when he felt her hand on his arm. He turned to face her. Her eyes were sort of misty.
"Don't go there."
"Excuse me?"
"The pub. You don't want to go there."
"How'd you -" He stared at her oddly. "Who are you?"
"A friend." She stared over his shoulder at the doorway. She paused a beat before she turned back to face him. "Don't go. Not yet. He'd like that too much." She whispered.
"Who?"
"Voldemort." She said, meeting his gaze.
There was an astounding roar of noise behind him. Harry whipped around to see the pub smoking and on flame. He turned back to face the girl. But she was gone.

Cassie'd seen two other people before that. She'd seen a redhead girl, named Ginny. She'd told her to go into the pub. That her brother would meet her at the table closest to the door.
She'd also seen a teen with platinum blond hair and gray eyes. Him, she told him Goyle was waiting for him. He'd stopped in, and ended up having words with the Ginny girl. They'd been standing in the doorway, yelling at each other, slandering their families names when the blast went off. He'd turned and shoved her and himself out the door.
Cassie smiled. She'd done what was needed. Now the difficult part.

She watched the family at the table. She knew he watched from outside. They didn't see her. She walked in smoothly from the room. The father smiled at her as she made her way to the table.
"Cassie, sweetie, we thought you were going out with Robby tonight."
"Yeah, sis. I thought you were too good to hang out with the fam."
"Well, I realised something."
"Oh, and what's that, sweetie?" The mother said.
"That being here is where I'm supposed to be." She said smiling. "With my family. With my brother. I mean, someone's gotta keep an eye on my twin." Cassie said softly. "I'm just glad to be alive."
"That's our Butterfly." Connor reached over and fussed with her hair.
"My twin. The Cockroach"

And the Powers smiled.
