Final Humanity

(poem based on Final Fantasy XIII)

I awoke to this new world

Feeling a surge of what you call happiness

For the first time, I'm at peace

No more battles

Just me and this cup of tea

Observing the beings of my past

They seem to be fairing well

No need to exchange words,

Just observe

Eventually they would look my way

And I would just smile drinking a cup of tea

Slowly by slowly

I find myself drifting away

Rewarded heavily for my good deeds

Yet now unneeded

There's nothing left to accomplish

Just me

The maids

The butler

And this tiny cup of tea

Cough Cough

I beg your pardon?

There's no need to worry

The bells will toll in thirteen days

And without even coaxing I will hear the angels sing

How ironic I must say

This doll, this vessel is long overdue

The emptiness is returning

Yet I'm just satisfied drinking this one cup of tea

Wait!

We are getting to a rather interesting part

Care to hear an unrevealed secret?

I at least owe it to the seven

After all they don't even know of my ailment

Of my departure…

There was a sickly girl

With rose colored hair

And eyes the color of the real sea.

She lived on an island in Cocoon

The last follower of the goddess Muin

When the final bell began to toll

The forgotten goddess restored her life

They made a pact

In return for this blessing

The girl would find the perfect vessel

To house the goddess' soul

She became a scientist

Yet even then her body was still weak

A few years later…

She fell in love

She had forgotten

She's loosing focus

Oh no!

She gave birth to a still born!

Heartbroken

I was once a mother

Gasp

The goddess entered the lifeless body

She was reborn as a strong human girl.

Three years later sister was born

Only this child gave her mother strength

Marveled by this unusual child,

The goddess blessed her newfound sister

She would be the key to lock and unlock my mortality

She would restore time lost

A pure hearted angel

Named Sereh

Despite this blessing,

the life of the contractor was fading

on her death bed

it was then that she remembered

and reminded even the goddess (distracted by sereh)

of her goal

Her final wish was that I keep her safe

Reminding me that I would need her too

And at last she called this vessel

This doll

This shell

Her "Daughter"

Oblivious that I am her

Oblivious that she was me

The soul named Eclaire was drifting

I became that drive that made her lightning

Void of the comprehension of emotions

As I was in my previous life

I had to be strong for Sereh

I had to keep her safe from the clutches

Of the evil son

Who defeated me, the once supreme

And now destroys the world created with his tools

Searching for the key that would destroy me

His second tool known as Etro was a mistake

The goddess who resembled me

And yet she had came the closest to reaching her master's goal

Foolishly giving my key her farseeing eye

And making this vessel her champion.

I was fool too

I had sent my sister to what she was destined to do

Unaware at that moment that etro had tainted her

Tch! how careless

My state weekend as I saw her die

I had to do something to make everything right.

I created an epitoth

A vessel that would safeguard her precious soul

to her she has housed my remaining humanity.

Thus when my son took her soul from my heart

And threw her into the chaos

She was safe

Under the guise as "the savior" we defeated my son

I thought I was no longer needed in the real world

My goal was reach

My mission completed

But then my humanity called out to me

With the help of my companions

I became a human in the in this new world

Despite their efforts,

I fear that this vessel is long overdue

Fated to remain a lifeless doll

As it came out of the womb

Here in this future

I live in what you call bliss

Just watching the smoke rise up from my steaming cup of tea
