Author's Note: This fanfic is inspired by the song What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts. Now as most of you know, I am a die-hard Jater. Occasionally though I might write a Skate OneShot from Jack's point of view. Never will I write a Skate fanfic from Sawyer or Kate's point of view. That would just crush my heart. Sorry Sassy, and all the other Skaters. When I write Skate fics (like this one) there will be (and is in this case) slight Jate. I'm trying though to write other ships besides Jate. So there will probably be more Skate fics in the future. Enough of my rambling! Onto the fic! By the way I don't own LOST or What Hurts the Most. Set on-island.

Having so much to say and watching you walk away.

Jack sat on the beach watching the waves roll onto the shore. He couldn't believe he let her do it. Jack couldn't believe he let Kate leave him. He just let her leave him before he could tell her how he felt. Jack had just let her walk away and over to Sawyer.

Livin' with this regret.

Jack regretted not telling Kate how he felt. Until that one day.

The whole group of survivors headed towards the radio tower. Kate wanted to go back but Jack stopped her. When she had asked why he simply said, "I love you."

Even now he regretted telling Kate that he loved her. Because after he said those three powerful words, she ran to Sawyer.

And never knowing what could have been.

Jack didn't know what would've happened if Kate did love him, and he never wanted to find out. As far as he was concerned, Kate was pregnant and she was never going back to him.

It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go.

Kate was in his thoughts all the time. It killed Jack inside, still, that she had chosen Sawyer. But Jack forced himself to move on, even though it was hard.

Still harder, getting up, getting dressed, livin' with this regret.

Still Jack knew in his heart he had to accept her choice and move on.

There are days every now and again I pretend I'm okay.

Whenever they were around he acted unnerved. He was still a good friend to Kate, and Jack wanted the best for her. Even if that meant supporting her and Sawyer.

Deep down in his heart, Jack still loved Kate even though she was with Sawyer. That feeling would never change, as much as he wanted it to. He just had to support them and move on.
