-England, what's a "hero"?
England had dozed off. America was reading on his own, but he didn't mind. In fact, it made him feel more independent. But he found a new word England hadn't taught him yet.
-Englaaaand! -America shook him slightly. He finally woke.
-Huh? W-what is it, America? -Replied England, still sleepy.
- What's a "hero"?
England thought for a moment and then answered.
-A hero is someone who saves people. He does what's right, confronts evil villains and never gives up.
-A "villain"? And what's that?
-The opposite of a hero. Villains do bad things.
-Just like you! -America laughed. England looked offended.
-What? Why am I a villain?
-You fell asleep before finishing reading me this book… that's a bad thing to do! -He tried to put his serious face on, but it looked more like a pout from a spoiled little boy.
-Silly! that's not bad enough to make me a villain! -England chuckled.
They both read in silence for a moment.
-England… I want to be a hero.
-What?
-I want to be a hero! I want to help people, do the right thing. I'll never give up. And I want to fight villains!
England smiled.
-Don't you wanna be a hero too, England?
-Me? Oh… no. I couldn't.
-Why not? - America sounded disappointed.
-Because… that's your job! You will be THE Hero. The world's greatest!
-But we could both be heroes, no?
-No, America. I can't. Have I ever told you… how much of a villain I used to be?
-Oh right… you were a pirate. But you changed, didn't you? You're good now! I want to be a hero, and you should be one too! We'd be unstoppable and unseparable!
-Haha, okay. Alright. I'll be a hero too.
But he didn't mean those words.
