Sarralyn looked through the clear night, her cat vision showing her the tiny mouse crawling across the floor. She silently stalked across the tree, her black fur camouflaging her perfectly. She crawled until she was directly above the cautious mouse, then she pounced. Her muscles rippled with the tiny amount of effort and in no time at all she had the mouse between her jaws. 'Easy,' she thought to herself as she wandered away, her catch between her teeth. "Kitty!" A human female called. Sarralyn ignored her. The female could call her whatever she wanted, but her name was Sarralyn. She gave a cat smile. She had actually managed to catch prey this time. It wasn't that she couldn't, it was just that she could hear animals speak. And as a predator, she hated that. She had rely on the humans to feed her when the prey talked. Because she couldn't kill them easily, and as a cat, she should be able to.
Sarralyn looked up at the dog, Ryazan. 'What do you want,' he barked at her. 'I want to pass, Ryazan, can you not see that,' Sarralyn answered, holding her tail high up into the air. The big brown haired dog huffed, but allowed her to pass. Sometimes Sarralyn wondered why she could talk to other animals. Why she found it hard to kill her prey because she knew that they were smart. But then she stopped trying to find out the answer. She didn't want to know.
