Alexis smiled as she watched her father mope around the living room, staring at his phone every few seconds. Beckett hadn't called him in yet that morning, and Rick Castle was acting like a teenager with a crush he thought no one really new about. During the course of her breakfast, her dad had leaned against the larger living room window, sat down on the couch and attempted to page through whatever book was on the end table, puttered around his office and finally, he had come and taken the chair next to hers at the table. Behind her newspaper, Alexis could sense his despair, and she bit back a giggle. She finished eating and went about getting ready for school, sneaking glances at his pouty face while cleaning up. By the time she came back down the stairs, backpack slung over her shoulder, he was still sitting at the table, staring morosely at the display on his phone. She snuck up and planted a good-bye kiss on his head. "Just call her, dad…" His eyes went wide at her statement, and he nodded, giving her a hug. As soon as the door was closed, Alexis silently pressed her ear against it. Her dad's voice came though, muffled, and he sounded oddly nervous. "Hey Beckett…it's Castle…"
