I said Speak Now
He was out of breath as he ran down the sidewalk. His lungs were processing the air as fast as they could but it just wasn't fast enough for him. He ran past old ladies that then proceeded to flip him off, but he just shook it off and kept running. He had something important to do and if he didn't do it who knows what the results would be.
Cool summer air drifted past him. The sound of a church bell nearby caused his feet to pound faster against the cement.
Walter O'Brien knew that he had a job to do and he couldn't just let it all go to hell. He just couldn't. He would later claim that it was a gut instinct, but deep down he knew that it was his heart calling him.
People called him names as he pushed past them without a second thought. He had to get to her. He didn't know what he would do if he didn't. What he was doing would go to waste and Walter knew that that would be inefficient.
The church came into view and he didn't spend a moment to analyze the angles of the building, he was just focused, for once on his emotional quotient. He slowed his gait as he approached the front steps. He pulled open the cold church doors and looked in.
The foyer was empty; it seemed that everyone had moved in for the ceremony. He had worried that he was late and that it would be too late do anything.
He quickly smoothed down the suit he was wearing and ran a hand through his hair.
The priest's loud and clear voice cut through the doors.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace."
Walter quickened his pace and threw the church doors open. Horrified stares met him and he stood his place. He saw the faces of friends that winked at him, enemies that glared at him and strangers that looked at him curiously.
And eventually he looked up towards her face. Her face held surprise and the face next to her held anger. He wasn't surprised at either. The silence was deafening. No one dared to move an inch or say a word.
The silence was put to an end by the movement of a dress. The dress to be exact was the bride's dress. The audience, groom and priest watched in stunned silence as the bride walked down the aisle towards Walter. He felt as if his heart would beat out of his chest at any given moment.
She got closer and closer until she was standing in front of him. Walter felt to frozen to do anything. He didn't even think that he would make it that far.
He was frozen until warm lips met his. He responded eagerly to her assault. The gasps of horror from the people watching the spectacle were ignored. All Walter knew was the woman in front of him and all she knew was Walter.
All too soon the kiss stopped and in front of Walter O'Brien was Paige Dineen.
She grabbed his hand and led him out of the church.
