"Should we warn them?" a brown tabby she-cat asked. Her green eyes were concerned as she looked at the cats around her.
"Not yet. There is still time to change things. We have to try." a scared tom with brown eyes and a grey pelt meowed.
A large black tom with sharp amber eyes snapped, "And what if we are too late? What if we fail? We must ensure it doesn't happen!"
"But Nightstar we can't have an innocent killed! That is wrong and cruel." a voice called to the black tom.
He sighed as he turned to the new voice, "Well then Ambershade what do you propose then?" he asked a white she-cat with pale amber eyes.
She frowned, "We give him a chance to change, you know as well as I do that anything and everything can happen in an instant to make things better."
Nightstar narrowed his amber eyes, "And in that same instant everything can become dangerous."
"I am only trying to look out for the safety of the clans!" Ambershade hissed at the tom.
Nightstar bared his teeth and growled, "Are you saying I am not? I gave my nine lives for the sake of my clanmates!"
"Stop it both of you! You are acting like kits. We don't need to deal with you two fighting, we have more important things to deal with." A tortoiseshell she-cat stepped between the two cats to separate them. "Please focus on the fact that this is not just a matter of the lives of our kin and clanmates but it concerns the cat in question. We have to be careful and rational lest we fail and doom our clanmates."
Nightstar sighed and nodded, "Fine. Its settled. The cat shall live until we see otherwise."
