The Lion and the Hunter

"Just a little closer and I would've had that squirrel!" I hissed. My tail whipped back and forth angrily.

"I can't believe you just did that Cinderheart!" I yowled.

"I was just trying to get your attention—you've been ignoring me lately and I don't know why!" Cinderheart was in tears; her voice wavered and her fur was twice her size. Her big blue eyes glared at me as I stared directly into them.

The thing was, I'd been having dreams lately—not just any dreams though. It was a dream where a beautiful, red tabby, long-furred she cat sat on the lake shore, watching the sunset. Then she'd turn to me, stare directly into my eyes, and smile. Then the dream would end there. I didn't know what would happen next.

"Well, it's almost moonhigh. I'm going back to camp." Cinderheart growled at me and stalked off. I raced ahead, and little did I know where my paws were carrying me.

There was the cat; she was even more beautiful for real. She was staring to the dark night sky, her fur blowing in the wind. Her long tail was curled around her. That's when she leaped higher in the air than a normal cat—at least, it was a lot more higher than I could jump. She stared menacingly directly into my eyes, but then the look on her face turned into a smile.
