Crazy plan

They had parked the car on a quiet road and broken into a nearby house for sale. The plan was to get up at dawn, before any potential buyers met with some unwanted wanted men. They had laid out sleeping bags in the kitchen, at the back of the house. Where the neighbours wouldn't see any strange lights.
Dean sat with his back to the wall. Legs crossed. Pencil in his mouth and pad in his left hand.
"So, how do we get the law off our back?"
"The fed on the phone sounded like he wanted to salt and burn us" Dean sighed.
"We don't have time for this." Sam paced the floor. "We are screwed Dean. Your face is all over the news" He waved the paper they had found on lawn.
"They didn't even choose a good picture" Dean complained. "They don't have your picture Sammy. You could…"
"We aren't splitting up." Sam stared out the window.
"It would be the smart thing to do. They would have two tracks to follow. Makes it…huh… could work" he smiled, the twinkle reminded Sam of their father. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

"You got a plan" Sam looked at his brother.
"I'm working on it"
Dean wrote on the pad. "Do you remember the fake lake monster?" he asked out loud.
Sam looked up from where he was lying on the floor. "The one we spent three weeks getting sucked on by elephant sized leaches? Nope. Blocked that one out." he lay back down.
"Cabin at the bottom of that ravine?" Dean grinned and shuddered at the memory.
"The one you nearly broke both legs repelling down to? Nope. Drawing another blank"
"The spirit we left to haunt the tire fire?"
"If it wanted to stay, then why stop him."
"Wasn't as if anyone wants to go near that place. How long it been burning?"
"Must be the best part of a month by now" Dean wrote the name of the town on his list.
"Do you think Jerry has a spare room?"
Sam didn't answer.

Dean wrote some more names on the list. When he was done he got out his phone.
He scrolled down the names. Stopping on Roadhouse.
"Hi Ellen. We're good. Can I speak to Ash? He'll explain. Kinda running on a deadline here."
Dean reeled off the list of places.

"Yeah yeah. I owe you dude" he hung up.
"What are those boys up to Ash?" Ellen asked
."Convincing the hungry lion that they aint worth eating" Ash smiled.
"What?" she asked
"What they do best" Ash finished the beer on the bar and went back to his room.
