Four Swords: Saving Ezlo
SUMMARY: 4 years after the events after Minish Cap. Link has a vision of Ezlo in danger. In the confusion, the Picori Blade shatters, but forms into four swords, each infused with one element. Link splits into four as well, and they travel together to save Ezlo. Summary sucks, I know.
BTW: I do not own Legend of Zelda (crowd awws) I know, I know, It's sad.
No it's not! If you did, LoZ would be chaos! You suck at managing!
Shut up, Shulk!
Link smiled as he walked with Zelda on the hill. Everything was peaceful. After the fight with Vaati, Link had celebrated his tenth birthday with his grandfather, Zelda, and the king himself! A festive, fabulous, colorful day. It was the happiest day of his life. He and Zelda, strangely, still saw Minish everywhere, which was explained later that:
1. Link and Zelda both had the purest of pure hearts.
2. Link and Zelda both considered themselves not children, but the official age of a teenager was 14/15.
3. Because Link saved the world yadayada.
It was nice to see all the tiny figures running around. Of course, there were mysteries. For example, why the heck when Link transformed into a Minish nobody saw him? Sure, adults and bad kids couldn't see Minish, but did no one see a nine year-old flipping a pot over then jumping on it?
Link had voiced this to Zelda, thinking she would know, and what do you know?
...
Okay, sorry, she didn't know.
But I do!
No you don't.
You're ruining my suspense.
I'm your manager. I know everything.
Speaking of Zelda, about a month or two ago, surprise surprise, Link and Zelda started dating. Rise Of Ze'Link! Yay! Party! Woohoo! Great, great. Back to the story.
Right now, Link was admiring the distant Hyrule Town below him, cause the view was spectacular from the hill, when Zelda suddenly said, "You know, have you wondered what happened to the Minish in the Minish world?"
Link cleverly saw through his girlfriend's casual but hesitant question. He nodded.
"Yeah. I miss Ezlo." He said.
Zelda nodded. "Me too.
He instinctively touched the green cap that Ezlo gave him years ago. Spectacularly, he never threw it out. He just kept getting Zelda to sew it back together. Guy's more stubborn-, er, resilient then me. He flashed back to when he and Ezlo were trying to find the elements. Remembered how he and Ezlo ran through the Temple of Droplets, how Ezlo became a hot air balloon every time he jumped into a whirlwind. Ah, the good old days where you could die every twenty steps!
Zelda piped up. "Remember how he helped you as you fought Vaati?"
Link grinned. "And how he transformed into an old bearded man?"
They shared a laugh. "I wonder how's he doing at the Minish world."
Link's alarm bells went up. He felt like someone smacked his face. Link felt it in his bones before he knew it. His mind swirled. Then it happened. All. Of a . Sudden. Link. Had. A.
Vision.
Ooh, a vision!
No, not a see-into-the-future-seconds-before-it-happens vision. Aww. A actual, vivid, present-time vision which brings you straight to the setting and you sense it. A flash. A black screen. A grunt. An ouch. Link fell to the floor with a thud. Oh yeah. It also knocks the future-seer out. Forgot to mention that.
Link's Pov
I groaned as I sat up. Where am I? Oh. Right. I had a vision. Wonder what it means...
Oh visions. Always so vague.
I was in a small room. Three doors was in front of me. I saw a table, next to an unused chair. The ceiling looked unusually like the underside of a mushroom. Of course. It was a Minish house. Go figure. I looked at the Minish on the couch, sitting and reading a book peacefully. I gasped, recognizing the old robed Minish.
"Ezlo?" I wondered aloud, mystified.
It was definitely Ezlo. But he couldn't hear me. I was just a visitor. And I would have gone crazy staring at Ezlo reading the 'Minish Guide to Stupid Spells', so I focused on the two doors. One was barred, locked, and trapped. Every single security known to Hyrule was there. I squinted at the scratching on the door. I couldn't read it, but I knew what it said.
VAATI, GOD OF WIND
I wondered why Vaati was here. Then again, we never knew where he went, and also I was pretty sure he didn't die. The second door was similar to the first, and read:
GANONDORF, DEMON KING OF DARKNESS.
That didn't sound good. The other door was normal, probably leading to Ezlo's bedroom. I frowned. True, Ezlo was the most powerful wizard among the Minish, but wouldn't these OP villians escape eventually?Speaking of the devil, from Vaati's door, a large bang occurred. At the same time, the entrance door for Ezlo's room also banged. Ezlo grimaced.
"He stirs. I must hurry." He muttered.
Ezlo raced up the stairs after opening the second door, coming back a few seconds later with a blue and white bird, and a scroll. He quickly scribbled something into the scroll, then tied it to the bird's leg. Only later did I realize that the bird was my old friend, Zeffa, who I summoned with the Ocarina of Wind.
Ezlo shooed Zeffa away. "Go on! Take this to Link!"
If I could speak, I would yell, "YOU CALLED?!"
Zeffa zoomed out the window, and not a moment later, several dozen monsters poured in the door. Ezlo gripped his staff tightly.
The lead monster, a black Darknut, walked to the front.
"Give us Vaati, and we won't hurt you. Oh, and the Demon King too. We only want the gods."
No! I wanted to yell. Don't trust them! But I couldn't move.
Ezlo glared at them. "Never."
The Darknut glared menacingly. "Then you shall die. Attack!"
The enemy charged. I desperately tried to jump in front of Ezlo and lay waste to the monsters. But I couldn't. Yet Ezlo seemed to be holding the monsters at bay.
"Flat!" Ezlo pointed his staff at a Lightning Chuchu. The Chuchu spilled onto the floor into a flat blob.
"Burst!" An Octorok inflated itself and burst, taking itself and several others with it.
"Intestinal problems!" A Darknut turned green and raced out. I could hear the puke spilling out. Gross.
"Wormhole!" A black gorge appeared and started sucking monsters in.
I could feel it even from a monsters screamed and were sucked in. Ezlo stumbled, and not a moment too soon, disabled the hole. Ezlo raised his staff, and created several clones of himself that began casting spells. Monsters vaporized, but more just kept coming. They started attacking desperately. A Moblin charged at Ezlo with unnatural speed. I screamed silently. Ezlo leaped out of the way, but the Moblin crashed into the barred door. Immediately, the defenses engaged. First, a laser vaporized the Moblin. Secondly, the bars opened and the ends sprouted chainsaws and massacred the army of monsters. The locks shot poisonous darts, the floorboards opened into bottomless pits, and so on. A blinding flash of light blinded me, and I had to look away. When the light died, Ezlo, was on the ground, charred but still conscious. He sat up wearily. Then he and I gasped simultaneously. The door for Vaati had opened. Vaati stepped out, back in his grey human-like form. Even so, the remaining Light Force in him radiated power. He grinned evilly. The black Darknut, the only one who survived the defense overload, bowed to Vaati. Vaati grinned again.
"Aah. It's good to be back. It has been years trapped in that forsaken dungeon. Now what? Yes. Ezlo."
His voice was filled with contempt. Ezlo raised his staff. A white hot, brimming with speed, bolt of lightning struck at Vaati. I thought Vaati was a goner, but Vaati swatted it away like a feather.
He chuckled. "Master, that doesn't work anymore."
Vaati struck him, and Ezlo was turned back into the, the,
The Minish Cap.
Vaati laughed. "This time, Elzo, I'm going to lock you in the place you locked me up! Isn't that poetic!"
Sure enough, exploded door rearranged itself. It was like looking at a time-lapse backward. Ezlo was drawn to the open door. I reached my arms, but they were too short. I watched helplessly as my friend was dragged into the black hole.
Vaati chuckled. "Now to deal with the spies. He looked straight at me. I trembled. Vaati hurled a ball of wind at the other barred door, and it exploded, revealing a huge, looming humanoid creature, black as darkness. Ganondorf.
"I shall deal with Link."
"Good."
If you're wondering how Darknuts and monster reached into Elzo's Minish World House, then I have the answer. Two words: Mini Darknuts!
Third Person POV
"Gah!" Link shouted and sat up.
Zelda worryingly grabbed him.
Link looked at her with fearful eyes. "Ezlo...I saw him Zelda! He's in trouble!"
"First things first. Earthquake!"
Sure enough, the hill was shuddering. Rocks tumbled down toward Hyrule Town. And most of them looked big enough to crush a house.
"We've got to save them!" Zelda shouted.
Together they raced down the hill. Farore was standing at the foot of the hill, staring at the tumbling rocks ahead. I charged faster. No use. Just as the rock was about to crush her, Zelda screamed and pointed her hand at the rock about to crush Farore. A triangle of yellow light spun toward the rock and exploded it to...light.
Link raised an eyebrow. "When did you learn to control the Light Force?"
Zelda scowled. "I don't know. We have bigger problems now."
Link saw a rock about to crush a small house. He raised his sword above himself.
"Sword Beam!"
A curved beam soared through the air. Link's aim was perfect. The rock shattered. More kept coming. The rocks were tumbling everywhere.
"Split up!" Zelda shouted. Link nodded. He readied his sword.
Link destroyed boulder after boulder, using his various items (By the way, a sword is not a good weapon against a rock). Once he had to jump on a boulder (via Roc's Cape) and run backward to make it avoid crushing the inn. Yikes. Whenever Link saw a huge blast of yellow, he knew Zelda was there. But there were still way too many rocks. All of the kings soldiers were evacuating the city or trying to stop the rocks, but there's only so much you can do with spears against falling boulders. Zelda rejoined him.
"There's too many!" She cried.
Link was so tired he could barely agree. He briefly noticed the horror on Zelda's face. He turned around to see a giant boulder, big enough to destroy half of the castle. Somehow it reached through the Town and to the east side of Hyrule Town. It was like it was drawn to him.
No. Not him. Something powerful. His fears were confirmed when he saw the sign. A red eyeball carved into the stone. Vaati had sent this. The vision was true. He heard Zelda scream. He raised his sword. Mistake. The boulder crashed into the Picori Blade, and immediately a blistering light seared through Hyrule. Then Link lost conscious.
Zelda's POV
Link still hasn't woke up. When is he waking up?! He's unconscious since the boulder hit him. I already woken up HOURS ago. What about Link?
Link's POV
Mmm...my tummy. Ow. What happened. Why can't I wake up?! Wake up! (Only later will I realize that there was a echo to my thoughts, like my voice had split to four). Wake up! Oh, I wish somebody could slap me, preferably mentally. Gah!
An eye flashed into my unconscious vision. It gleamed red and I saw flashes of death, fire, screaming, and death. Then blinding white flashed.
Ugh! Will I be doomed to nightmares forever!? Is this my eternal punishment? AGHHSHFAH!
"GAH!"
Zelda stood over me, concerned. Then the concerned look melted into relief.
"Link! You're awake!" She started crushing me, and I started to lose conscious.
"Not...For...Long" I managed to croak.
Zelda jumped back. "Oh, sorry. I'm just so relieved."
"Yeah me too."
Zelda was about to retort then she suddenly paused and looked shocked. "Um... why are there four of you?"
Huh?! Four of me! Did I accidentally split with the Picori Blade again. I turned and expected three glowing green ghost-like me's, but instead I found a exact replica of myself, but one was violet, one blue, and one red.
"WHAT!?"
Third Person POV
There were now four Links, each identical except for their tunics. One retained the original green, but another had violet, another blue, and the last one had a red tunic. It was bizarre. Link was panicking. All of them.
Green wailed. "What happened?"
Red stared at his hands. "I'm...I'm not myself now!"
Blue started fighting with Vio. "Give me back! Give me back!"
It seemed like they all retained their memories and thought they themselves were the real Link. Zelda tried to think, but she was panicking herself. She forced herself to calm down, for the Links were much worse. She rubbed her head.
"Let's ask dad. He'll know." Zelda suggested.
Turns out, King Daltus didn't know. He was also very, very sick.
He groaned. "Go to the...the library. Maybe...maybe there's a book there." Not much help huh? Kind of like that time he said, "As King of Hyrule, I must do something to help my kingdom...but, ah, I am old. You do it, Link."
The doctor shooed them away. The Links walked with Zelda to the royal library. They briskly arrived at the huge book maze.
Zelda sighed. "Split up. We'll cover more ground like that."
Red looked through the bookshelves. There was nothing about splitting to four, except for a small section of 'The Powers Of The Picori Blade'. Even so, it didn't mention anything. Then Red looked up and saw a scroll nailed to the bookshelf.
When the Bird Of Wind has finally soared.
Tis awaken the power of the Four Sword
The God of Wind shall escape it's prison
Heroes beware of the black demon
The black moon sets on the farthest east
Peril unleash from through the beast
The beast? Bird of Wind? God of Wind? Black Demon? What does that mean? But...Four Sword? Could it be? Maybe this could give answers.
Red decided to bring the scroll with him.
One Hour Later...
The group gathered back at the entrance.
Green panted. "Find anything?"
"Nope."
"Nada."
"Same here."
"Now what?"
Thirty Minutes Later...
Red snapped his fingers. Link can snap? "Of course! The minish at Minish Woods would know! Let's go ask the Minish Elder!"
Cries of 'yeah!" and "good idea!" filled the hall. They ran as fast as they could to Minish Woods. Suddenly, a blue-and-white bird flew into their faces, rudely throwing a parchment at them.
Vio gasped. "Zeffa?"
Blue gasped as well. "The note! That Ezlo wrote! In my vision!"
Zelda grabbed the note and opened it. It said:
"Link, I have imprisoned Vaati and the King of Demons (Ganondorf) in the Dark Dimension, but he will break the door soon enough. You must take Zelda somewhere safe, for he still wants to consume the Light Force. But I have another discovery. Link, you have great power as well. As you see, the power of the Four Sword is bonded to you, and you can control the elements with it. Don't break it. Just don't. Stop Vaati and Ganondorf. Quickly, for I fear I don't have much time left.
-Ezlo"
Zelda's POV
I was shocked. How could Link have the power to control elements? That was impossible. Well, not really, but how did Link never use it before? I glanced at the Links (ugh, Links sounds so weird!) but they looked just as confused as I was
Blue broke the silence. "But...but...we're split to four! How do we harness the power of the Picori Blade now?"
Green frowned. "Speaking of the Picori Blade, where is it? I last saw it when the rock smashed into it."
I winced. "Right. I forgot about that. Come with me, but whatever you do, don't go into shock."
The Links were confused at this, but followed her. They reached a room were there was a pedestal, but instead of the gold blade, the Picori Blade was shattered. Into four pieces. The Link's went into shock, until they remembered Zelda's words. So now we know why it shouldn't break.
Vio stuttered. "How...bu...t how...what?!"
There was a strange thing though.
Zelda pointed at the blade. "Look. The hilt is glowing green, the base is glowing blue, the middle is glowing red, and the tip is glowing purple. Why?"
Red shrugged. "I feel as I should touch it."
Blue's eyes widened. "Can we? Can we?"
I sighed. "Fine."
Instinctively the Links walked forward and put their hands on their respective color. Then, as things weren't weird enough, the shattered pieces started growing. The Link's jumped back.
No, not growing. Transforming. The pieces were transforming into new swords. The one glowing green turned into a green sword, like the original White Sword. The one glowing red turned into a red sword, the one glowing blue, you get what I mean. Four multicolored swords were now sitting on the pedestal.
Green sighed. "Okay, I know this has been said too many times, but what happened."
Zelda overcame her shock. "I don't know, but I have a feeling you should bring them to Minish Woods. We might need them. Let's go."
The Links grabbed their swords then set off.
Third Person POV
Halfway to the Minish Woods, Red stopped and remembered something.
"Guys! I remember something!" He said.
They stopped. "What?"
Red chattered excitedly. "At the library, I found a scroll that didn't make sense, and I brought it with me. I think it has something to do with Zeffa."
He opened the scroll.
When the Bird Of Wind has finally soared.
Tis awaken the power of the Four Sword
The God of Wind shall escape it's prison
And Heroes beware of the black demon
The black moon sets on the farthest east
Peril unleash from through the beast
"Zeffa, Zeffa, Wind, Bird!" Vio gasped. "The Bird Of Wind! That's Zeffa!"
Blue gasped. "Zeffa was sent to us right after the Four Sword broke!"
Red gasped. "Vaati, the God of Wind escaped! He must be the beast!"
Green gasped. "The Black Demon must be Ganondorf! He could be the beast!"
Zelda studied the prophecy closely. "What's a black sun?"
Awkward silence. They had just started to realize a lot of things, but this stumped them. It didn't feel good.
Vio shrugged. "Guess we have to ask Gentari, the Elder of the Forest Minish. Come one, let's go!"
The group stopped in front of dozens of octoroks. They ducked behind bushes.
Green's eyes widened. "I've never seen any monsters since Zelda destroyed them all!" He whispered.
Red nodded. "Shattering the Picori Blade must've caused it. But even so..."
"I've never seen so many." Zelda finished.
This left not much for Blue and Vio to say, so they just muttered, "Yep, many, yep."
Green frowned. "Are you sure we can beat them all?"
Vio shrugged. "Couldn't hurt to try."
Blue agreed. "We have our items."
"ATTACK!"
Green attacked first, chopping down several octorocks in one fell swoop. Red jumped in and brought his sword down on another. Blue slashed and hacked, and Vio dodged a nut. But just as the first wave started to become overwhelmed, another, huge, hundreds of octorocks fired at once.
"ABORT!"
"Ugh. I still can't get these nuts out of my hair."
The battle against the octorocks had worked, and they destroyed them, but since their skills were a bit...rusty, and there were hundreds of the enemy, they spent their time throwing out the nuts.
"Welp," Green specified. "That's what we get from not training."
They looked at the Minish Village.
"If my memory serves, there should be a Minish Portal here somewhere." Green mused.
They started looking around. Zelda spotted a, a, different tree.
"Hey Link-"
"Is it here?" Green interrupted.
"No! I think it's over here!" Red called.
"Link-"
Vio exclaimed. "Aha! Ah- Oh wait."
"Link!"
"Come on Zelda, help us search!"
Zelda sighed. Doofus. Plural.
Blue spotted the tree Zelda found.
"Aha!" A tree looked a little...different than the rest (did the glowing gold sparks give it away?). Blue rammed into the tree full force, via Pegasus Boots, and revealed the log. One by one, they transformed into Minish and entered the Minish Village.
"Yeah! Great job Blue!"
"You found it!"
"Nice, Blue!"
Zelda groaned.
Gentari saw them first. "Ah Link! You're back! Oh, that shade of blue does fit you quite well...wait...what?"
Zelda nodded. "Yes there are four Link's. We came to ask why."
Gentari frowned. "All right. Let me get my Minish Magic ready. It would take an hour or so, but come with me, Links."
The heroes blinked. "You...don't seem surprised?"
Gentari scoffed. "Oh don't worry, I seen stranger."
As the Links followed Gentari into a room, a Minish walked in drinking juice. He spit it out in shock.
Zelda sighed. It was going to be a long week.
One Hour Later
Gentari came in with a clipboard. He asked the Links. "So, who is the real Link?"
Each Link replied simultaneously, "Me."
"No, me!"
"Me!"
"ME."
"ME!"
"ME!"
Gentari stopped them. "You all think that you have been split in half," Lots of nodding heads. "But it's not like that. It's more like you've been multiplied. When the Picori Blade shattered, it tried to put it's power in Link. But since it was too much, it multiplied you to four and gave each of you a element. When you touched the blades, you transferred the element into the sword. You can see the element by just willing it to appear from your sword."
The elements appeared.
Red mused. "Looks like a...animal footprint of some sort."
Green raised an eyebrow. "I got this...is this a wind snail?"
Vio frowned. "Are these...bowling pins?"
Blue scowled. "Look...I got...a rock."
The water element did look like a rock. Blue sighed and willed the picture to disappear.
Gentari stood. "You must stop Vaati at once. You have to go to the Minish World."
"But the doorway only opens once a century!" Zelda protested.
Gentari smiled. "There is another. Only us forest Minish know about it. A pit, straight to the depths of the Minish World. Unfortunately, you have to go through lots of hardships to get to the top. I know where Ezlo lives. I will give you a map. You must set off at once.
So now you know why I haven't been working on my Super Smash story much.
