As Always
Summary- Sometimes, life was easier when you sat back and watched. But sometimes it was the hardest thing to do. Can work as a deleted scene from All To Blame; prompt from tumblr.
Bailey leaned against the bathroom counter, watching as Avalon slowly, very slowly peeled off her jacket. Both girls winced at the sight of her wounds. Much worse this time than ever before, Bailey realized. She watched her sister, looked for any hint that it was the final straw.
Instead, she found nothing but resignation. Resignation of a life she found herself unable to get away from. Bailey glanced at the 'V' tattooed inside her sister's wrist and asked, "Doctor?"
Avalon snorted. "Absolutely not."
"How are you going to explain it then, boofhead?" Bailey's frustrating immediately matched her sister's. How funny, she was able to keep her head on straight as the little sister and it was her big sister who was the one who needed to be reined in. Funny, but not habitual.
"The same way I always do, yeah?" Avalon replied. She looked at her sister in the mirror's reflection, assessing the damage, sucking in a sharp breath every time there was sting of pain with her movements. She blindly reached for the First-Aid kit beside her, dark eyes flashing with the constant brewing storm that seemed unable to find a calm.
"So, by not doing anything?"
"Too right."
"Hey, I'm Bailey, this is my sister, Av, and they sure are an idiot…." Bailey looked up at Avalon, who glared back at her.
"Just shut up and help me bloody bandage," Avalon grumbled, holding out the roll.
With a sigh, Bailey grabbed it and pressed one end to her sister's bicep. She winced at the multitude of colors on the inside; red of the blood that smeared from the open wound. Blue, black, and yellow from the bruising just around it. And pink; a light shade of pink from the fresh part of flesh that'd been wounded but not torn.
Just like her sister was.
And always would be.
A/N: You know what? I sort of miss writing Av and Bay when they were on their own. Things were just so...equally great and terrible between them. Lol. Though I love writing their relationship. As can be seen within Headstrong. Ii hope you guys liked it.
