'Happy Birthdayz, Shika-kun and Ino-chan!' The sign read.
"Naruto, you idiot!" Sakura yelled.
Naruto sighed. Sakura yelled far too much, he decided.
"Get rid of that z! Birthdays isn't spelled that way, and it shouldn't be plural anyway! Baka."
Naruto glared at her and dipped his brush into the white paint.
"NO! Now you got purple paint in the white paint can! IDIOT!" Sakura stomped on the ground. Hard.
Naruto held out the multi-paint colored paint brush. "Here. You do it then."
"Fine. I will." Sakura snatched the brush away.
Naruto sulked off as she began to repaint the word 'birthday'.
"Hey, forehead!" Came the polite greeting from the blonde.
"Ino-pig." Then, "INO-PIG?!"
Ino leaned around Sakura, trying to get a glance of the birthday banner that was dripping with fresh white paint.
"H-a-p-p-"
"Bye!" Sakura tore the banner down from where it was pinned to the fence and quickly folded it up, praying that it wouldn't be ruined. She really didn't want to have to start over again.
"Well. Fine then." Ino stalked off.
Whew. Sakura's shoulders slumped slightly. That was close. Too close.
"Hello favorite team! How's operation super secret joint birthday bash going?" Kakashi inquired, sporting one of his famous eye crinkles.
"We're your favorite team?"
"We're Kakashi-sensei's only team, Naruto."
"Oh. Right."
"Operation SSJBB was going quite nicely until Naruto ruined the banner and Sai contaminated the cake icing with ink."
"Oh."
"We should have everything ready in time though, don't worry!"
Kakashi gave her a silent thumbs up and another eye crinkle and departed.
"Oh, Kakashi-sensei." Sakura shook her head with a 'tut tut tut."
