Hello, friends.
Thanks for taking the time to read this little ficlet. It's unbeta-d and super short, but it's something, right?
It's set during the first season, sometime in the first few episodes (when Finn and Quinn were still dating). I hope you enjoy!

"Crap," muttered Finn.
He had just discovered that, despite being absolutely certain he had put his iPod in his bookbag this morning, the iPod was no longer there. And then the absolute certainty was gone, and he remembered putting it on his desk to put it in his bag. It had never made the jump.
"Crap," he muttered again.
"What's wrong?" asked Rachel, approaching him. He had no idea where she came from, because he knew she wasn't there when he had first looked into his bag.
"Oh. I just realized I forgot my iPod at home. No big deal, though." Except that study hall is going to suck, he thought to himself.
"You could borrow mine." He looked at her (and must have appeared to be skeptical), and she quickly amended, "If you really wanted to. But I don't know if you would know any of the music."
It's gotta be better than nothing. "Sure, I guess. I can give it back after school."
She smiled, rustled around in her bag, and produced it from a pocket. "Here."
"Alright. Um, thanks, Rachel."
"No problem." And then she was gone, down the next hallway before Finn could even compose himself.

At the end of the day, he returned it to her.
"And what did you think?" she asked.
"It was all musicals," he said. "Although there were a few interesting numbers, I prefer my own iPod."
"It's not all musicals," she argued.
"Rachel, every artist begins with 'Cast Of…'"
"Not every single one."
"Yes, every single one."
"You must not have gotten all the way to the bottom."
He stopped. "There's a song that isn't in a musical?"
She turned the iPod on and scrolled all the way to the bottom. Sure enough, after "Cast of Xanadu," the word "Journey" was displayed.
"See?" she said.
He stopped, and the room was quiet around him (even though he was pretty sure it was full and bustling a minute ago). "You have 'Don't Stop Believing' on there, don't you."
She nodded, frowned, and began to turn away when he grabbed her arm to stop her.
He met her eyes. "Why 'Don't Stop?'"
She looked down, then back up again. "Because it was the first song we ever sang together."
He blinked, and before he could answer she was sitting down and engaged in a conversation with Mercedes and Tina.
He was more confused than ever.
