Being tired was not an option.
Hinata told herself this over and over and over again while she rubbed her eyes and looked over documents for Hokage-sama. She rubbed her eyes again when they began to become teary, probably from all the dust. She allowed herself a small yawn while she carried out her work.
I'll get some tea when I finish this part.
She was just telling herself this so when she finished that one part she could tell herself this once again. She was beginning to sound like Lee-san. She allowed herself another yawn while she pulled out another document. She settled herself into a chair and read it to herself. However, she seemed to get a bit too comfy, allowing herself to nod off somewhere between the beginning and the end of the document.
"Just five more minutes."
She pulled her hands closer to her face, in hopes to block out the bright light that threatened to awaken her from her slumber. This did not work, though. Just moments after she pulled her hands towards her, the light seemed to brighten and her shoulder was shaken lightly.
"Wake up, Hinata-chan."
At this, she sat up as quickly as possible, hitting her knee on the metal table and causing herself to go dizzy. She blinked sleepily and looked around, attempting to find out who woke her up without actually looking towards that stupid light.
"Ne? H-Hokage-sama?"
"Hinata-chan, it's eight in the morning. Did you work on these all night?"
The blue-nette blinked away all thoughts of sleep. "Ano… I-I might have."
"You should go home."
"I have to finish this though!" she said loudly. A bit too loudly. "I—ano—I would like to finish these as soon as possible."
"Fine. Take a break. We'll go get some ramen." A grin.
She blushed sweetly and looked down at the papers. "B-but—"
"Nope. Come on!"
Hinata was pulled up and tugged towards the door. "It'll be just like old times!"
The promise stuck. Yup. This was just like old times. She was blushing too hard to say anything. He was leading her on without realizing it. And, there were seven empty bowls of ramen sitting on the counter beside him and one half-filled bowl in front of her.
When they stood and Hinata pulled out money to pay for herself, he touched her hand and grinned knowingly. Naruto handed coins to the old man and took her hand in his as they walked back to the Hokage tower. Now, this. This was different.
