A/N: First Star Wars piece. Trying out the Obi-Wan/Padme coupling. I think, after the third movie, Anakin doesn't deserve her. This is set right before Anakin and Obi-Wan left to go save Palpatine.
Summary: Obi-Wan want something he can't have. One-shot. One-sided Obi-Wan/Padme.
Repressed Desires
Obi-Wan sat on the couch in Anakin and Padme's living area. Ever since they had returned from wherever they went, they had begun living together, much to his dismay. The two seemed inseparable, even now when he and Anakin had a mission to complete. Both Anakin and Padme knew that a relationship between them was impossible, but they had not done anything yet to call the Jedi Council's attention to it.
Though, the new Jedi Master was now very attentive to it. Anakin was still young and believed the world to be his. He seemed to believe anything he wanted he could have, or anything he wanted to do he could do. That meant if he wanted a young senator, he believed he could have that young senator. Obi-Wan knew better. He too had wanted the same young senator but had never acted upon this feeling. It was against the Jedi Code.
Seeing the two together almost made him wish he had acted upon his feelings, but he knew he shouldn't feel or think such things. Being a Jedi was an honor, and he planned to stay one.
He heard a door slide open and Padme enter the room. She smiled when she saw him; her long brown hair glistening. "Anakin should be ready soon."
Obi-Wan nodded once. For some reason he couldn't help but feel anger toward her for giving into Anakin. "We should have been gone awhile ago. This time we've wasted could cost us our chance at saving the chancellor," he said with an unwanted harsh sound to his voice.
Her smile wavered a little bit. "Anakin was tired… He was still resting from the last mission you two were sent on."
"That's all very well, but I sent him a message over thirty minutes ago telling him to be ready by the time I got here! This is very important!"
"I understand that, but couldn't the Jedi Council send different Jedis? You and Ani just got back from your last assignment."
Padme's calmness and reason was making Obi-Wan angrier. "Anakin is one of the best Jedis out there! We need him for this mission."
"Obi-Wan, you two are being overworked!"
"There is a war going on, Padme! Sacrifices must be made!"
Her smile was gone now; a more cross look was on her face. Obi-Wan immediately regretted what he had said and the way he had said it to her.
"Listen… Padme… I'm sorry. This mission has me stressed, and I have no right to take it out on you."
The young senator nodded to him. "It's alright, Obi-Wan." She paused for a moment. "Anakin is taking longer than I expected him to. I think I'll go check on him." Padme turned on her heel and strode out of the room.
Obi-Wan then realized he had stood up in his anger. Quickly, he sat down and placed his head in his hands. How could he have been such an idiot? Padme had chosen Anakin and had only tried to make light conversation with the Jedi Master when he had jumped at her. Being stressed was no reason to treat an angel like her like that. It wasn't good to have your mind stressed before going into battle, and he had done that to himself.
"Obi-Wan." A voice had said his name. He looked up to see Anakin. "Are you ready?"
"Yes, yes," replied the Jedi Master, somewhat distracted. "How is Padme?"
Anakin looked a bit confused. "She's just fine… She said she had suddenly felt tired and decided to take a nap. Why?"
"No reason."
"Then should we go?"
"Yes." Obi-Wan said, walking out to his ship quickly. Once he got there he realized he would be able to meditate for a moment and forget all about Padme.
The End.
A/N: There could be a possible companion story to this from Padme's point of view. It depends, though.
