Roxas had seen things and been places that Axel never had. And in that respect, Axel felt like the younger one. It wasn't exactly an inferior feeling, it was just something Axel had to accept. That he wouldn't ever understand some things that Roxas did.

"I don't get you, Roxas." Axel said, he was following Roxas to his room.

"How so?" Roxas opened his door and walked in casually with the older nobody at his heels.

"Well you say that we don't have hearts." Axel said as he dawdled at the entrance for a few extra seconds before settling down on Roxas' bed "But sometimes you say that you hate. So you must have a heart if you feel anything."

Axel looked up at Roxas. The blond boy was standing by the window and staring back at nobody in particular. "That's different." Roxas said easily "Because you don't need a heart to hate someone. You don't need to feel in order to hate. All you need for that is a mind, and that is something that I am grateful to not be lacking."

Axel wondered why every time he made a point Roxas made a counterpoint.

"It's in your nature to disprove people." Axel said knowingly, fingering the sheets that lined Roxas' bed.

"I suppose." Roxas sat on the bed next to Axel who relaxed visibly. "You haven't had a chance to learn some of the 'life' altering lessons that I have. But one day when this is all over…" his voice trailed off. Axel took this opportunity to take Roxas' hand. "When all this is over…" Roxas started again "I'll take you where I've been. I'll show you what I've seen."

Axel wished that it was all over now. "I'll be waiting…" he squeezed Roxas' hand softly "…forever." he added, turning to look into Roxas' eyes.

They were dull and unfocused, and there was something decidedly sad about the way they glistened. "But forever isn't ever enough." Roxas said quietly.

Axed tried to breathe normally. "When that time comes... you'll tell me how you are able to leave without me?"

Roxas looked at him. "You'll have to learn that lesson on your own."

'Cause every time Axel makes a point he makes a counterpoint.
