If only Jonas would stop breathing.

She could handle it if he would just…stop breathing.

Oh, not forever.

Just for about ten minutes or so.

She'd pay out the nose for fifteen minutes in which he didn't breathe.

Yes, she didn't care much for the guy, but…okay, she hated him.

Peanut Jackson-MalDoran hated Jonas Quinn.

He was too perky, too happy, too talkative, too cheerful, too dang excited over the friggin' weather channel.

As if she wanted to know it was snowing in New York!

Did the man not realize she lived in Colorado Springs? Who cared about anything outside her little corner of the planet?

Yet there he sat, talking about "his" newest findings on PM3-Whatever, her ire rising with every word.

Her father had been on that mission. Her mother as well. Yet not a word on their accomplishments. Only his running commentary on what he considered to be the "most impressive find of the century!"

Please

The most impressive find of the century was when Jack and Sam found her father on the planet after his ascension. Or, the day her parents found each other.

Or possibly, the planet where Mitchell found five ZPMs, earning him a place in SGC history and a plaque on the wall in the team room.

Or where they found the Sangraal.

But not this tiny rock now being shoved under her nose, the barest hint of writing on one side.

She could have cared less about it.

Truly.

She hates him with every fiber of her being, but can't bring herself to admit the reason to him. She knows he deserves to know the truth, why she wants him to be cut down in the prime of his life from a heart attack.

Brain aneurysm.

Allergy to citrus, get stepped on by an elephant, mauled by a bear, drowned in a puddle of his own vomit…

But he deserves to know why she hates him.

It's late when she finally makes her excuse and disappears, heading for her rooms on base to get away from his nauseating presence.

He stops her at the door to the lab, worry touching his eyes as he asks why she is so distant.

You killed my father. You let him die, you blamed him for your mistakes after he saved your planet, and you killed him. You lied. You're evil to the core, and no matter how much my father has forgiven you, I can't. You may be 'rehabilitated', you may have 'turned over a new leaf', but you are a monster and I despise you.

The words flood her mind, but years of diplomacy training kick in and she smiles sweetly instead.

She lies smoothly.

He believes her.

And she hates him even more.
