Cress was sick.
She had a painful headache, a stuffy nose, and a scratchy, sore throat.
Her energy was quickly wasted. She had no appetite. This went on for a week.
Thorne would visit every once in a while, kissing the top of her red nose. He would then make a disgusted face and claim that her skin tasted sick. Cress would try laughing, but it usually sounded like she was choking.
Cress was tired of being sick. She opened up the window, wiped her bleary and watery eyes, and turned on her wallscreen.
She found her favorite movie: Mary Poppins.
As the familiar voices and sounds swept over her, she heard a gentle pouding on the door.
"Come in," she said nasally. Thorne popped in the room, all smiles and happy eyes.
As soon as he saw her, he started laughing.
"Hey!" She protested, pausing to cough into the crook of her elbow.
"I'm sorry- I can't.." Thorne burst into another fit of laughter.
Cress wiped her teary eyes and tried to look cross.
"What is it?"
"You just look so cute right now, all bundled up in those blankets."
Cress's cheeks heated up.
He walked the few steps over to her bed.
"What're you watching?"
"Mary Poppins."
"What? Never saw that before."
Cress glanced at him.
"Watch it with me." She patted the spot next to her on her bed.
Thorne scrunched his nose. "Are you sure? I don't want to get infected..." He trailed off at Cress's glare. He smirked. "All right, move over."
Every time one of her favorite songs came on, she would quietly hum under her breathe, knowing her plugged nose made her sound awful.
Thorne would every so often glance over at Cress, and grin.
Cress hid her face under her blanket.
"Stop looking at me, I look sick." She joked, stopping abruptly to cough into her blanket.
Thorne shook his head.
"Nah, you just look tired. And you look like you're abouot to cry, which is kind of cute."
"Cute?!"
"Yea. I don't know." Thorne grinned at her, putting his arms behind his head.
After a while of watching the movie with bleary eyes, she shut them, tears immediatly leaking out. She'd been watching the movie for too long, not blinking, and when she closed her eyes, it stung.
Thorne wiped her tears with his thumb, kissed her forehead, and whispered, "Good night, Cress."
