Chapter 1: Bluebloods come home

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Greys anatomy only in my dreams c'est la vie! AU : This time two groups of close interns formed, the original fab five minus Meredith. The new group is Addie, Derek, Mark, Meredith and Jackson Avery. I just think that her and Jackson would have bonded quickly over the whole having to deal with famous family.

Karev were sure that the apocalypse was nigh!

It was the only explanation that made sense.

The reason for his unease?

Well that was simple, the she-devil, her hubby and their best friend were all happy. At the same time. He was not prone to drama but he'd been wracking his brain. He could not think of any day it had happened since he started his internship; he was sure of it. He was chewing on his burger, "It is not right ... I'm telling you!"

Yang rolled her eyes, "Are we at this stage all ready?" She wasn't trying to hide the mocking. "Where you tell me your problems."

He pouted as it was his usual tactic to get what he wanted. If Yang was devoid of sense it might have worked. She had worked too long and hard to let her hormones ruin things. He was hot but not worth the chance of missing out on surgery. "Bitch," He replied. "And you can't tell me that you don't find it freaky?"

She snorts, "No ... because I know why." It was funny because she now held a captive audience.

"What?"

Barbie was not a patient person that much was obvious. Christine knew she had to stop calling her that in her mind before she slipped.

Izzy was leaning forward, trying to cajole her, "Come on let us in on the secret."

"The bluebloods are coming home," Yang announced to stunned silence. She would always enjoy knowing more than her colleagues. It was something to lord over them and they had a competitive market.

There was silence as they comprehended what that meant.

The 'bluebloods' were infamous, young and already legends. It was not fair, they were practically born with scalpels in their hands. It was a pair of surgeons, the grandson of Harper Avery and the daughter of Meredith Grey.

Karev frowned, "Shouldn't they have become attendings at the same time as the Devils?"

Yang rolled her eyes as whilst he might have some talents with medicine - he was so clueless. "Except both Grey and Jackson chose to do double fellowships."

Izzie nodded, "Grey is as adept in neuro as she is in general. Avery chose to specialise in Cardiothoracic and General."

Yang rolled her eyes. She didn't need the gift of foresight to know what was going to happen. Barbies obvious enthusiasm meant she going to fangirl over them. She just hoped there was no restraining order given against them.

It was true that the bluebloods were legends. Avery and Meredith had formed a tight bond as they trained. The constant barbs over their parentage had given them common ground. The others never saw it. The fact they had to work twice as hard not to stay in their families' shadows. Still Avery and Meredith could be honest that the drive to succeed was because of it. When they operated together they called the bluebloods. The only difference was the name was no longer spoken in mockery. They had worked hard and won the respect of their colleagues and were legends in their own right. While their work together was incredible. They'd pulled off some good operations with two other attendings. The first was Meredith with Addison's husband and Avery with Meredith's husband, Mark.

Speaking of the devil, Mark Sloane was staring at his wife with adoration. "Aren't you a little over-dressed?"

Meredith smirked. "If you had your way I would be naked all the time." She let the kiss linger but she would be firm as he could not mess up her dress or make-up. She had promised to wow the donors at the charity brunch her step father was holding. "You'll answer to Pops." She warned.

Her husband groaned, "I thought we agreed no bringing up the chief. It kills the mood."

Meredith's grin told him she knew exactly what it would do. She was a sneaky one his wife. "I know. Now go and I will see you soon," She promised.

She had to watch Mark race into work today knowing that this would be the last day it would be on his own. She was glad that she was back home. It was not that she did not trust her husband. It was not his fault that he was very pretty and nurses did not know to keep their hands off. They would learn soon enough.

Mark had felt that he had been a good boy today. He was ready to go to the meeting and listen as the chief explained what he already knew. He has looking forward to Mer' and Avery coming to work for Seattle-Mercy. Mark sat down, "Why is everyone so excitable?"

Derek snorted, "We are scaring the interns."

Mark wasn't following. It was nothing new, "Don't we that every day?"

Addison snorted in bemusement she just stopped short at rolling her eyes. Her husband and his best friend could act like immature boys when they wished. She could complain or remind them to act like attendings. She knew that she was fighting a losing battle as she was also excited. There was also the part where she liked the fact they had earned the nickname 'devils'.

"Eat your breakfast boys."

That was the last thing they said before they all started their shifts. They would like to think that they would have a chance to talk to each other again. There experience made them know it was a wish and not a guarantee.

There is an odd expression that says, 'if you are going to enter, then make sure it is with a bang never a whisper'. Meredith was hoping for a calm start to her career. She had done the whole making waves. She was looking forward to research and practicing medicine.

Honest. Brunches for raising funds were the worse. The Chief was lucky he had raised her and that she liked him. She could be operating right now and instead she was standing in a pretty dress having to make nice. The small consolation was Avery was standing next to her.

Meredith made a vow.

It didn't matter how much her step-dad begged. She was never doing one of these events again. She hated the way he'd used reason. The hospital always needed funds. "I am so bored!" Meredith whined.

She should not have tempted the fates.

She could not have predicted the massive pile up that would happen. It was right in front of the building where they were holding their function. One minute she was bitching with Avery about her boredom and the next there is a massive explosion. She ducked trying to ascertain the emergency. She looked at the street and saw it.

Oh god.

This was going to be long and messy. These people needed help. There was one small brightside. There were few accidents where attendings were on the scene. She didn't need to talk to Avery. They were on the same wavelength. They were doctors and they would help.

They rushed onto the street and started bellowing orders. It didn't matter that she was in a cocktail dress or Jackson was in a tux.

They helped the people.

In fact, Meredith was ripping up her dress to help her make, makeshift splints. Jackson and Meredith were lucky that one of the guests was a trauma surgeon who offered to help them.

The surgeon, Owen, felt his frustration rise. His patient was going to die unless he could get his airways open. "I need to get this guys airway open."

Meredith didn't look up as she had her own patient. She chucked her gold pen that she used that was in her hair. It was expensive but it would save his life. Owen smiled these were his kinds of surgeons and he could tell they were damn good. They could hear the first responders finally reach the scene.

Meredith didn't look up as she asked the surgeon. "What's your name so I can get you cleared to operate at Seattle Grace?"

"Dr Owen Hunt, MSF." The paramedics had never seen this level of efficiency before. Then again never before had they had three attending level physicians at the scene. They had worked steadily through the crowds of injured. They had had to stop when each had to deal with particularly horrific cases in their own specialities.

The paramedics could see their level of skill so stood back and followed orders. Meredith walked with her case into the first ambulance. She was the first one that got her patient sufficiently stable enough to travel. "Hey driver I need you to get the Seattle Grace Chief on the phone."

The paramedic had no clue what to do, knowing it was not procedure. Meredith too focussed on her patient wasn't willing to play games. "Look, Get Webber and tell him Merri is on the phone with the start of a serious board."

The radio blared loudly. It seemed her Pops was listening to the Radio chatter.

"Merri tell me what's the situation?"

She took a deep breath, "Dad there was a massive pile up, and I've got the neuro case stable enough. I'm with the first ambulance. Jackson is assisting with his Cardio case. If you could clear a Major Owen Hunt to operate we will be good. It looked like a serious trauma case which he is an attending for."

Chief Webber could only shake his head with bemusement. He realised just how she managed to run a fantastic ship when she'd been Chief Resident. "No worries Baby Girl I'll have some Scrubs ready and get the doctors ready and waiting."

The interns realised that the start of a mass mobilisation was starting.

Miranda Bailey queried, "Chief?"

"Get everyone moving ... mass casualty incident. I want the OR's prepped and ready. Three cases will be moving through in rapid time. I want scans and then they are to be moved into the OR."

Miranda wondered what she was missing, it seemed like he knew they wouldn't need more help. He wasn't giving any more of an explanation. Webber looked to a nurse issuing orders. "We are going to have three attending coming in a hurry. I want three sets of scrubs, two in a large male size and one in small for a female."

Now the situation was becoming clearer to Bailey. The angels had smiled on the people involved in the accident. She watched as the attending's appeared. The Chief laid it out for them as he got them up to speed. "The dream teams are being reunited as soon as they get dressed. Mass casualties expected from a pile up."

They had to wait. It wouldn't be long.

Karev was standing in the entrance with Sheppard for the first case. There was some Resident with them but he couldn't even remember her name. Karev finally got his first sight of Meredith Grey-Sloan. She was gently straddling her patient so she could maintain pressure on a wound that was too serious. That and he registered that the thigh split was incredible. He envied Dr Sloan. She listed off the guy's condition and immediately ordered Karev to replace her hand.

"How long do you estimate we have before they are ready downstairs?"

Sheppard gave her his full cocky grin, "The OR's will be ready for the royal highnesses in 5 minutes."

She gave him a bright smile, "Just like old times."

He watched as Jackson and Owen followed moments after. They handed off their own cases for their patients to be prepped. Derek moved them forwards, "Come on. I'll show you the Attending changing rooms. The quicker we move the quicker we can get down the nitty gritty.
