Gideon Prewett and Juliet Sinistra
Words: 414
Juliet knew. She just knew that something was gonna happen tonight. Gideon asked her to show him the stars. He was in Astronomy; he knew what they looked like and what they were. Still, she agreed to go lie on the roof of the North Tower and star gaze with him. The whole notion was romantic if you thought about it. So at midnight, Juliet made her way up the tower, still in her school uniform, but with a thick woolen coat for warmth. It only took her a few minutes to get there from the Ravenclaw common room. Gideon was already there, a thick blanket already lay out and a flask of what looked like Pumpkin juice was sitting on one side.
"Hey there," he said softly, giving her a smile.
"Hi," she said back. He gestured for her to take a seat beside him. She gracefully lowered herself to the blanket, just a few inches from him. He picked up her hand and kissed the back of it, not taking his eyes off hers. A blush crept up her cheeks, and Juliet was glad for the obscuring darkness.
"Lay back," he prompted gently, and she followed his suggestion. He conjured an extra-long pillow for them both to share. She felt a tug at her heart. Gideon really was a sweetheart once you got to know him. They lay back on the blanket and stared directly above them, seeing Polaris, the North Star. It was silent for quite a while before Juliet broke it.
"So why did you ask me here?" she questioned.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you're in Astronomy, quite smart – even if you are a Gryffindor – and I'm a year younger than you; why did you ask me here?"
"I know about the stars, that is true," he began, rolling over to face her. She copied his movements so they were face to face; only inches between them. "Secondly, I resent your dig at my house, Gryffindors are awesome, and I am smart. But you're smart. And not bitchy like the girls in my year. I asked you here to see if you wanted to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend. But I didn't want to get rejected in front of a whole lot of people."
"I wouldn't have rejected you Gid," Juliet murmured.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'd love to go," she smiled at him. He leaned forward slowly and their lips touched. The kiss that started it all.
