AN: Today is June 20th 2016. I know you all are probably thinking…"Ok? What's the big deal?" Well, for all you Young Justice fans, Wally West "died" today saving the world. (I put "died" in quotes because I honestly think he's still alive.) Sooo in dedication to him, and all you YJ fans, here's a one-shot that's starring him...yeah I know I kind of written a lot about him lately, but today's a special day! Well not really special. ANYWAAAYS~ Here's the fic!
Wally's jade eyes shot open, his ears ringing. He scanned his surroundings, unsure of what had happened. He was in a room, no doors or windows to be seen. Just a grey circular latitude.
He groaned, rubbing his temples, praying the ringing would stop as he managed to stumble to his feet.
"Ungh...am I dead yet?" Wally mumbled.
There was silence.
"Uh...God?" Wally loudly exclaimed. "Can I speak to Jesus or someone? I think I might be dead."
More silence.
"Anybody?" He whimpered.
Kid Flash shook his head. It was hopeless. No one was going to answer. It was his fault he was even in this room in the first place! If he had just been a little faster, than maybe he wouldn't be in this situation. He couldn't even tell if he was dead or not. Possibly in limbo? Purgatory? Did he somehow survive and was just passed out?
He tapped his foot impatiently. He just wanted some answers. Theoretically he could attempt to vibrate through the walls, but he felt dizzy and uncoordinated.
He cursed under his breath as he kicked the wall to prove his frustration.
"Ow!" He moaned. "Okay...bad idea, Wall-Man."
Wait. If he could feel pain, did that mean he was still alive?
He remembered getting hit by a strange light, telling Barry to tell Artemis that he loved her, and then waking up.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him. The speed force...perhaps he was in it. That would mean that he was still alive, but not really. He was trapped, possibly for eternity. His friends ...his family. They all probably thought he was long gone. And they were probably right. For once, he couldn't get out of this, he was stuck in a never ending limbo. Of course, these were all assumptions, but they made sense to the redheaded speedster.
"I never really got to say goodbye, did I?" Wally murmured. "Artemis...Dick...Barry…"
A sharp realization hit Wally like a train. His eyes began to water, but he attempted to fight back
the tears.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't fast enough…" Wally choked. "I'm never fast enough."
Wally gritted his teeth, hoping the tears wouldn't fall down like a waterfall. It was a bad enough that he was trapped, but on top of that, he was crying like a toddler. He felt pathetic. No wonder he didn't make it. No wonder he wasn't there to see Artemis's smiling face, to see Nightwing congratulate him for saving the world. He was gone, even if he felt real.
He crouched down on the hard floor, silently sobbing. He was so confused, so broken...he didn't even know what to do.
He just wasn't fast enough.
AN: Okay, so this was rushed as hell but I really was having writer's block the entire time xD Also I'm not good at emotional stuff. Maybe it's because I'm not really an emotional person…*gasp* I'M BATMAAAAN XD If this story sounds interesting in the slightest, despite going faster than a speedster after eating two pints of ice cream, then please rate + review, and maybe I'll continue it. SuperSparkleBats123 out~! :D
