I opened my eyes, to find myself in an unfamiliar place. I winced as the headache that had been dully thumping when I was unconscious hit full force. I winced again.
Ugh. My head… It feels like it was hit by a sledge hammer. How am I even alive? I wondered to myself.
I sat up, fighting against the rush of nausea it brought. My long black hair hung loosely around my face. I frowned, and struggled to remember exactly what had happened. After a moment it all came back.
My whole team was dead. Only Naruko and I had survived the attack. We had been betrayed, and not even the great Kakashi had been able to save us. I'd managed to escape with Naruko. The last thing I remember is being lifted up by a large man.
Naruko and I weren't a part of the leaf village anymore. We could never go back. Konoah had ordered our deaths. The fact that we had survived isn't common knowledge and I plan to keep it that way.
"Where's Naruko at?" I asked. "You mean the blond girl? She's resting in the room next to yours." The man replied. "I see. So she survived then?" I asked. "Yes. I've been tending to her to ensure she survives." The younger one replied. "I see." I murmured.
Things fell silent for a moment before I spoke up again. "I would like to thank you for saving us. I'm Saya Kagami. It's nice to make your acquaintance." I said formally. "I am Zabuza Momochi, and this is my student Haku Yuki." The man introduced. "Thanks again for your hospitality. I truly do appreciate it." I said.
"Where the hell am I?!" Demanded a familiarly feminine voice. "Sounds like Naruko is awake." I commented, and sure enough Naruko came stumbling in a few moments later. "Nice to see you up and moving Naruko-chan." I stated. "Saya what the hell is going on, and who's the old man, and the girl?" Naruko asked. "Naruko-chan, this is Zabuza Momochi, and Haku Yuki. We're at their place." I replied.
10 minutes later we were all sipping tea. Naruko had finally calmed down, the room was filled with a solemn silence. "So your village has abandonded and betrayed you." Zabuza commented. "Yes." I confirmed. "Why? Why would a village turn on their own?" Haku asked. "Because we are considered the bane of their existence. We are both hated and feared for what we can do. As such the hokage ordered us dead." Naruko replied. "Do you girls have anywhere else you girls can go?" Zabuza asked. "No sir." I answered. "Can't they stay with us Zabuza?" Haku asked. "Well you are more than welcome to stay here. I will train two along with Haku if you'd like." Zabuza offered.
Naruko and I shared a look and nodded to each other. "That would be greatly appreciated Zabuza-san. Thank you." I said inclining my head. Just like that, Naruko and I were taken in as the students of Zabuza momochi.
